You HAVE to be kidding. 50 turns? My average war does last a quarter of that. I doubt I have ever been at war for 50. Agreed. I thought the 10 turns was too long.
I was just throwing that out as a number. 10 turns seems like a reasonable compromise. Long enough that you could say a war actually happened, but not too quickly that it's gamed. Thanks for the explanation here, Derek!
Can we get a UI to display the Zone of Control for Outposts within a city's ZoC? It's hard to know the area where the outpost will have influence. Love to see a ZoC displayed when you highlight Settle or Outpost. The improvements from this patch look really excellent. I hope it doesn't reduce the effectiveness of magical civs too much (like Procipinee, for example).
Good points, Firefly. How about making "Too busy" only trigger for X number of turns after a declaration of war? After say, 50 turns, you can then recontact that civ for negotiation. Reduces the gaming of the system. Also seems like something the AI could handle, too.
Hi gang - Yes, please do post here and let us know. The way our system is setup is that some stuff (like bows) are considered spells, so they can become unintentionally loud (or soft).
I can't check this right now, but I want to say throwing knives fell into that category. I assume they also functioned like a spell, maybe making them louder than intended.
I'm sure we'll find out soon enough when 1.0 is released. No word on when that will be, though I'd wager sometime in the next month.
AI can have monsters right next to its base. The player doesn't have that, which is likely the cause of the destruction of the AI early on.
When this problem is fixed, I say we all post pictures of our favorite waterfalls in the forums.
I've hired one or two champions that had a pet/troop of some sort. After hiring, the other unit dies. Is this a bug? If not, could we request to keep the other unit(s)? It's confusing and disappointing. I'm assuming the other units were added to make the champion more difficult to kill, but if I'm hiring a champion that has a fire elemental as a pet, I want to keep it!
I've noticed this as well. Some sound level normalization would be appreciated. I like the new effects (they add to immersion), but without consistency in volume, it makes me want to turn them off.
I've seen other odd behavior when reloading the game- missing ZoC, missing the lines connecting various research items, and crashes. Something's not quite right with the engine, and perhaps they're related (or not).
Hiring champions is generally too expensive, especially now that it's much harder to get money.
That volcano rocks! I'll be interested in reading how the AI responds.

Have you tried an uninstall of the game and a new install? Sometimes the XML can have issues and that's fixed it for some folks.

Maybe each magic school had some more units but you needed to be a summoner to select them...
Agreed. There is an advantage to having it, but it's rather small and seems pretty trivial compared to some other traits. You do get a higher level unit, but even then you still have to spend a decent amount of mana to get the units, plus maint
Another pass on these for balance would be great.

Are you running 2560 * 1440, too? There were some graphic enhancements in the last update...
You could also make it so that anyone who crosses your territory without a treaty is fair game for attack. They know that they are at fault, so there would be no declaration of war. If they manage to sneak through, then they have pulled one over on you, but if you catch them in your territory, they risk losing the units. That way you don't have to worry about constantly threatening war (that never happens), only to do so
