He's not free and does cost a small amount of gold to recruit. An increase in needed reputation might help, but how hard is it to gain rep anyway? He does give a bonus to female sovereigns, as finding female champions can sometimes be difficult.
Plus, if your food source is heavily based in caravans, all it takes is a few spider/bandit/opposing army attacks to kill some caravans, and then you're playing catch up.
So I take it keeping the food bonus from caravans after they are killed is a bug.
Is that why Men (race) is the only race able to spend character creation points on boots?
Yeah, they definitely need to increase the speed of tactical battles or have an option with multiple speed settings.
I think in MoM skipping combat was the same as watching it on auto, however this is sadly not the case with autoresolve. The AI doesn't make the same decisions nor does it play by the same rules as in tactical combat.
Death worship doesn't seem to do anything, while brave is only a 5% increase so it's not noticeable on single units. Brave does work for Empire.
Haven't had any items vanish completely, but they aren't able to be equipped. I was still able to trade them back or sell them. It's like boots: Some people can buy them, some can't, some can wear them if traded to while others can't at all.
Not to say the AI might not be cheating, but a single city with 1-2 farms and lots of caravan routes to it can produce extreme amounts of food. If there isn't a cap on the bonus % then +600% or more shouldn't be all that hard. Also, refugee camps add 100 to pop if he has them.

Can't find the older patch notes, but this (or similar bug) was supposedly fixed. I don't think it was the exact same issue, however i do remember that the way the bugfix was stated gave the impression that groups are supposed to heal to full unit count.
But even adding equipment with heavy material and metal usage still adds tons of gold to the cost too. Gold is pretty much only part of the cost I look at. Unit upkeep costs get extreme, yet if you don't keep your army up to par then you get severe diplomatic penalties. You still end up with a trickling gold income and a massive material, metal, crystal income.
All my kids suck! I get like 3 essence and 1 move with the stats usually around 10. I did marry one of my boys to a girl that came with a legendary sword once.
Just encountered this too, and it isn't just counterattacking. Didn't seem to happen on a warg.
i dont bother with caravans anymore roads help the enemy more than me
it's a double edged sword. I remember enchanted roads in MoM that have 0 move cost. The AI could storm through your entire line of cities in one turn, but you could also do the same if they had roads. Not sure if it's a bug, but once your caravan is setup then you don't have to worry about them getting attacked. You still get the food bonus i
I like being able to pick my targets intelligently, decide if I want to spend mana, pseudo-kite, decide if my champs should flee instead of just suiciding, and most importantly be able to actually protect my escort. Sending units with a pioneer is pointless if autoresolve always kills it first even if your other units are victorious. Simple tactics can still be much better than none at all. It doesn't have to be complex to a 'tactic'. Flanking (no, there isn't flanking ingame) is a very
Has anyone gotten any unit other than a ship to even do autoexplore?
Why are these two options so different? AutoResolve: doesn't seem to care about distance or combat speed. Archers get attacked on the first turn and range limited spells can be cast right away (melting hands ftw?!) Tactical: Missing happens way too often compared to AutoResolve. This might be what is causing most complaints about combat damage and spells feeling so weak. Why isn't there a third option, Auto Tactical Combat? I like to watch my battles, but don't a
rofl!
Just about everything needs gold. Unit upkeep is also solely in gold. I only focus on gold improvements in my cities because it's the major limiting factor in what you can do. By midgame i usually have hundreds of extra material and more metal than I could use because the needed gold severely outweighs the other resource needs. The AI tends to have thousands of materials too, so it becomes useless for trading. Equiping champions takes a lot of gold and nothing else. Making units reduces
Would be nice. I could make sure that I don't get one troop that starts on the other side of the battlefield!
Isn't it cute?!
i was stuck here too. thanks to this thread I was able to find the burnt down krandir that doesn't show on cloth map.
Had this happen from ship set to auto explore
Yes this is very annoying!
Grotesque Tactics is cool. It's not a city builder though, just rpg.
