Right, I've been watching the fallout for a bit now and restrained myself from reacting quickly. Still want to do so now, so here goes. I've been watching this game since very early. Built up anticipation with the best of em. Pre-ordered the game months in advance (only got the box yesterday). Played in beta's even submitted some bugs. Just to show the level of interest (or fanboiism if one would want to call it that). Truth be told, Elemental did not quite live up to my expec

read those threads different then (might be my hasty reading) - i thought you couldnt get IN on the beta anymore - but those who were could still - since they are making a differenec between gold and 0-day. ah well thanks for that
I pre-ordered elemental quite some time ago. I have had betas of elemental installed, downloaded through impulse. I had a serious hardware crash which caused me to have to install everything anew (ever heard of 2 raid disks failing at once? :( ) I reinstalled impulse, but no matter what I do i cant get it to show elemental in any other way then the place to buy it (which i already did) Trying to register with the serial i was mailed at purchase didnt work.
It might have gotten lost in the thread so I will ask again: I pre-ordered the CE quite some time ago. I live in The Netherlands. How will it be shipped to me / when can I expect it (i.e 2 weeks after release or ....) Thx
[quote who="Frogboy" reply="101" id="2701928"] As backwards as it sounds, DD is always more expensive for the user (in the UK anyway) than retail. You can get new PC releases from online retailers for as low as £18, but usually £25. I'd imagine Amazon UK and such having it. The main issue we have is with regards to continental European retail channels (storefronts). By the time everyone has touched it, we see virtually nothing (that's when we get paid at
update: I cannot succesfully reproduce the error everytime. Also travelign around or through the city (ehich is more logical) is not consistent - pathfinding issue?
Thx for the suggestion: I know you can change this in impulse. Point is: new customers wont. And even though I know it I forgot to put it back on after a reinstall of my system. Standard behaviour for an install program is to present an option at some point (usually custom or advanced install) where people can change it. Here you will find the game installing when you where still expecting such an option to appear. Ofcourse one could uninstall - and then reinstall the ri
I used impulse to install the beta. It does not at any point give me any option to change the place where the game was to be installed. I never put games on my OS drive. It messes things up. Please add the possibility to install it on a drive and directory of my choice.
I would like to be able to decide where my sovereign/army exits my city. right now its always at the bottom left, after which I have to travel around the city i just exited if i want to go NE. Even more bothersome if you manages to place your city in a place where you cannot travel around it easily (gap in mountains)
[crash] Alt-tabbing out and back into the game will crash the game with message: "DX error: Invalid call" OS: windows 7 64 bit Videocard: HD4870, Catalyst drivers 10.4
[bug] Under windows 7 64 bit I cannot find the debug.err file in the indicated place or anywhere on the system drive (C:)
Running ahead of schedule.....now theres something you dont hear everyday in the software development industry. Keep it going :) edit: Ok ok I caved [e digicons][/e] I pre-ordered, just to show my appreciation for Stardock development style. Maybe ill even try and give some usefull BETA feedback. If i do try I promise I wont have fun [e digicons]^_^[/e]

I mostly limit myself to lurking here even though i've been following this for quite a while now. No need to voice an opinion that has already been worded by several others :). In this case I'll make an exception though. To simplify this process, the game has only one resource type, so you don't need to worry about gathering wood and stone and a bunch of other things from the environment to build out population centers. Through my
I'm mostly with Swicord here, he kinda beat me to the punch. I'm gonna use "should" here, could have used "could" or "maybe" instead. regular magic items should be easy to medium hard to produce but would have obvious level/power caps. Fighting would destroy an X% of them so as not to have everyone have several of them. Part of the remaining percentage could be captured intact and used or "deconstructed" for a percentage (not too high) of the original construction cost. Part should be
Ok I waited patiently...sort of. Signed now Take it as a sign of enthousiasm not pressuring ;)
As long as you drag their bodies out of sight under your bridge thats fine ;)
last peep as far as I caught it is that it will be a map, not a globe. Beyond that....
The idea is good, but it carries more then a bit of danger of becoming similar to the "cultural/ethic independent colonizing and migrating" thing in Master of Orion 3. Complex, well thought out, worthy of a masters degree and in the end very very difficult to control (therefore failing). Any "autonomous spread" system would have to be tested to hell and back in order to reacb an acceptable level of ceertainty it wont break games here and there. I would agree that any kind of c
they are, its not MTFB BUT ATTF (Assured time to failure)
its been said there might be (will be?) a closed beta before the public beta in june. It will probably be awarder to loyal stardock customers and high karma forum members. Earlier acces means bigger issues ofcourse, I dont know what kind of experience you are looking for.
Lol at lugge....you keep popping up in the same places I do (you are just more nickname loyal then me ;) )
I think I understand your dislike, but i'm not sure you've understood me right. I mean to differentiate between channeler power and what I'll now rebrand as "mana reserver". With Channeler Power I mean to express the maximum amount of magical power you may expand in one turn / time slot /whatever. Say the "bandwidth" of your ability to channel. With power hording in my previous post i meant the build-up of raw magical hoardes that (still) needs to be channeled to become effectiv
Good post, good idea. Have some "outside force" disrupt excessive turtling (but not too much please, i like turtling ;) ) As nathaniel richter already said: the topic starters idea probably does not jive with the extreme scalability the devs have in mind. It would be very hard to implement it properly that way and also feel "rigid" and "meta-game" Perhaps a good idea to keep in-line with the background story: In the last cataclysm lots and lots of energy got stored up and then
