Civ5's qualities are not really the ones at issue here. I had posted this thread on AI issues here, I'd love to three quarters of that get some love. EDIT: Argh sorry, didn't see that this thread is from the summer and had just been reanimated with necromantic powers. Sorry

Thank you for posting, and for listening. I do think that the AI still needs serious work. Sadly, I cannot play on HUGE maps, because of the difficulties surround unit pathing or non-hostile units not being able to share tiles with other non-hostile entities. Most maps larger than medium require my units to move too much, and this is simply a nightmare when a friendly outpost, shard, resource, town, or unit happens to be in a bottleneck. Gosh if you could fix that (allow non-hostile u

I think they don't know what "Republic of Gamers" means. Do you know anything about how I can turn that off in BIOS? Without any danger of me harming the laptop otherwise? The model is G75VX (or G75VX-T4206H to be precise). Thank you!!
1) I forgot how I did it exactly, but it's doable, I think it's in the options when you enter BIOS.
Sorry, I really need some sort of help, I'm not even sure I know what BIOS is, but isn't opening it dangerous, like messing with some .ini file in the important sectors of your computer?

Recently got a new laptop to replace my broken one - got a good deal on a asus g75 older model. Just two questions, if I may? 1. When booting, the screen briefly displays a weird flag-like icon and the words "republic of gamers". This has confused a number of clients here in Germany. I want to deactivate that and have learned this can be done in something called "BIOS". I was told this can be found when hitting f2 while windows8 boots. However I am scared to try that, s

Ouch, just saw Pariden, against whom I am playing, had built 2 of 3 towers needed for the Forge of the Overlord, while I declared war on her. Approaching her cities, I can see that the third tower is in the building queue in a Conclave -- BUT in front of this, she had queued the training of an archer, taking 6 turns. The city directly adjacent to this conclave is a Fortress, which was set for producing Research. Excuse me, I hate to say it, but that's really awful. The AI

Thanks much people. Sorry for one last question: I'm confused, I see by accident that when clicking on certain elements, I get to open them with Wordpad or Editor. Damn, I have been looking for these programs and can't find them!!?!! Where the hell are they? Obviously, they are (pre)installed, since I can use them to open texts, but I cannot find them anywhere. Similarly, the Windows Media Player is apparently installed, since I can see that I can open a music fi

Thanks, I'll give that a look. It's hard to see from the website if it also is fairly easy to create and manage playlists (especially the synchronisation thereof onto mobile play devices) -- is that a go? Oh, by the way, do I then have to tell windows that a default click on a media file should start the VLC program? THANK YOU

I have recently purchased a new laptop, which came with Windows 8. I can now safely say that I am not pleased with Windows 8 in general, and am looking for ways to go about dealing with various suboptimalities. One thing in particular bugs me: I used to use Windows Media Player -- not because it was good, but because I detested iTunes even more, and it was an "easy" way to find my stuff, and I dislike crowding my machine with thousands of things that run other things. But now...

There is, to my knowledge, no updated manual of any sort whatsoever. The in-game "Hiergamenon" has been updated in many cases, there are still quite a few suboptimalities to be improved. This you can find in-game by clicking on the little ?-icon in the top-right of your screen.

After seeing the pre-release notes of what is in the making for 1.4, I'm quite worried. I do still have high hopes for 1.5!

Thank you I will look for that. I'm sort of wary of downloading lots of programs that run in the background. I'm afraid that one day I'll no longer have an overview, and 50% of my computing power will be gone to things that check to make sure other things are optimized, and I could have saved optimization by not having those first things running. Does that make sense?

Thank you, I will try that. I'm still confused as to how to get certain programs exactly where. Example: Let's say I manage to figure out how to partition my HDD into 3, 1 for programs, one for music and video, and one for just general stuff. Then I will have 4 disks, including the SSD. So.... I would still run the OS on the SSD, but I would also want to have a couple of programs I use a lot be installed on that too. I would run most programs on the HHD 1 (call i

I just got a new laptop running WIndows 8. I can see in the "System" entry under "Programs" five listings for NVidia. I'm assuming these are my graphics card drivers. what confuses me is that there are five listings, not one. Do I need all of them? In addition, I can see the Version listed in the right-hand column (in this case 307.07), but am unsure as to how up to date these are. HOnestly, I do not want to change something that is not broken (especially because I am a computer ill

Sorry, I'm computer illiterate and am having a bit of a time attempting to get a couple of things done, any tips for an idiot are greatly appreciated, thanks so much in advance! 1- I have a new laptop running windows 8, an SSD (128 gig) and an HHD (1TB). It came with the OS installed to C:, which is the SSD (good), but by default, all programs and data, including "my documents" etc., are also on C: -- I'd rather have the default be on my HDD. How can I change that? <

Sadly, I didn't understand those answers. I'm using Windows 8, and I'm not keen on adding Folders to the library, but keen on telling where the library should be stored. I'm also looking for tips on how to "Partition" a hard-drive.

Sorry, not understanding everything entirely, may I ask please? 1. It's an ASUS, and it came shipped with the C: drive labeled OS, which is the SSD, and everything seems to be on it; not just the OS, but by default /my documents and /programs. 2. I'd like to have at least the libraries with my documents, and at least some programs be default to E, which is the big hard drive, which is not partitioned. Do I just right-click on the little icon on the C: dr

Thanks much! Wasn't sure that was possible. (Yes, I am computer illiterate.) I don't know yet how much space Windows 8 will take up, I hope not all of the 128. There are a few programs I'd like to have on the SSD, such as parts of Office I use every day. Would putting some games on the SSD make their performance better, or is that purely a question of CPU and graphics card? Would loading times be faster if on the SSD (for example the really long load times LH has now

Hello all, I'm just getting a new laptop in the next couple of days or hours, which will be running Windows 8 (I hope I can figure it out! A windows 7 user here...) and which will have a 1000gig HDD and a 128 SSD. The OS should be on the SSD. But my main question is: Where should I install most of the programs? In other words -- I'll use the HDD for storing data, such as documents and photos, but what about the applications themselves? Will the 128 SSD be enough to have

Really? Thank you! I find that odd, however. I was under the impression that "clink" meant no damage was done, at least that's how it seems to me. I will sometimes see "normal" feedback of "-1" (the floating integer) above an enemy when 1 damage is done, and I sometimes am of the impression that no damage is subtracted by "clink" attacks. Be that as it may. I was hoping there was a secret blocking mechanism used by shields (until I got "blocked" by a bowuser...).

I've had this bug in 1.2, but it's been some time since I have seen it in 1.3. This bug will cause my army leader to not show up in battle. So far, this has happened twice with Jodur the Giant both times, so not sure if it is a bug regarding him only. Also, this has happened both times while attacking an enemy city. What's even worse than the Army leader not joining in the battle is the result -- even if I win, the hero is treated as if he were defeated, including injuries
