It must be this week! Sept. 16-18 looks good. [e digicons]*_*[/e]
Tormy-
Beautiful! :D
^ Yeah, I heard the same infos also. :)
Yeah the demo has been leaked. [e digicons]*_*[/e] The game is awesome, I'm gonna buy it, once it's out.
^ Well, you are talking about the "Rock, Paper, Scissors system". It's still much better compared to Civ4's randomized and primitive system. Either way, we shall see that what's gonna happen in Elemental. The Beta is close now...also maybe we will be able to mod in new dmg & resistance types also...who knows...:D Either way, if the combat system will be at least as good as the AoW 2. combat system, I will be very happy.
Well, well...I never thought that I will beta test a game in my life, because I don't like betas. This is the game what I would like to beta test however, so I just pre-ordered it right now. Hopefully the devs will listen to the beta testers, if it will be needed. I myself have 5+ years of experience with war and strategy games, so hopefully I will be able to "help" also. :)
I think you guys are forgeting that cities take up more than one tile in this game...You won't (or atleast shouldn't) be able to just waltz in and raiz a whole city to the ground in one turn as you can in Civ4. Also, 20-25 is pretty gigantic if those cities are well developed and take up many tiles. Also, while 32 is the max number of factions you can play with, the game only have 8 cannon factions, so when he says that 20-25 is large number of
Age of Wonders 2 had some of the best tactical battles of the genre.
Very true...let's hope that Elemental's tactical battles will be at least as fun! :)
I think that Harad should be a playable faction also. [3rd age of course..]
Well, obviously this "issue" is related to the size of the maps also. ;)
Oops...dbl post. :|
Eh seems sorta unfair I'd rather have this option have to be sorta a last ditch kinda thing, so if your economy can support having all that land then you can keep it (not since you have X amount of land your economy WILL fail, thus forcing vasals). I'm pretty sure that's exactly what Frogboy described, "At some point, it may become advisable to turn some cities into vassals."
<
Oh boy, someone should start working on the creature models already...Orcs, Ents...the BALROG!..etc. :D
What is so wierd about them not showing up? That's SOP. They show up in some threads, but expecting them to show up in a given thread is insane. Not only that, but expecting them to show up in a thread about a topic that they've volunteered almost no information about is even more insane. It's not like they haven't told us about certain topics because no one asked - we've asked. Either they aren't sure enough
This sounds very interesting. Thanks for the infos Frogboy! :)
^ Yeah. I find it very weird, that the devs haven't posted any details about the tactical combat + combat mechanism at all. I am waiting for these infos, since the game have been announced. :(
Thanks Daedalo. :)
Bleh....It looks like, that the devs are "ignoring" specific threads. Weird...either way, if Elemental's combat system will "copy" the primitiveness & randomness of the Civ4 combat system.....maybe I won't buy this game, or -at least- I will wait for a demo / proper informations about it. Don't get me wrong, the game looks awesome already, but this is an important stuff imo. Especially since we will have tactical combat in the game [thankfully]...Ah well, Civ4 fans won't care about t
If we are talking about strategy games... 1. Sword of Aragorn 2. Age of Wonders 2. [+ Expansions] 3. Warlords serie
So we can all sit around going 'we don't know! We don't know!' at each other?
Huh....the devs should know the answers? :P
This is why I've created this topic. ;) It's a very important stuff in a game like this.....
I haven't seen any proper informations about the combat system itself so far...so perhaps Boogie or someone can/will answer to these questions. I hope so at least, since this [combat mechanics] is very important in a game like Elemental. [My English is not the best, so please forgive me, if there are some spelling/grammatical errors in my post :)] 1. How will be the combat results calculated? According to the screenshots, the creatures will have att/def stats [Civ4 style]
Just an important note: If you would like to make a decent LotR mod, magic must be removed from it. ;)
Righ now that'd be perminent, but we may allow for tile-designs to support environment-specific objects....would be cool (and I beleive straight-forward in code).
Yeah, that would be awesome! :D
That was an awesome game indeed.
