Yet another crash, while I was trying to attack an enemy city. Dump: http://www.sendspace.com/file/flp15f

Ok I can reproduce the bug. Here is the saved game. When you load it, try to found a city with the sovereign. -> CTD. I hope this helps to fix this crash. http://www.sendspace.com/file/yuso7m
I had a sorta similar CTD, when I was founding a city near an iron mine. I've reported it of course.
You should upload the dump file as well.. :)
CTD while I was trying to found my 4th city. Dump file: http://www.sendspace.com/file/2y49oe
I just had my first CTD in 1Z. The AI captured my city, I made peace with him, but I decided to break the treaty, so I attacked the city, which was captured before. Dump file: http://www.sendspace.com/file/09dctd

Illwinter never cared about the AI actually. Doms3 is supposed to be a MP game. They've stated this many times when the game was released. Which has nothing to do with what I said, because I was talking about the tactical AI. Which the
MoM is great, but got boring quickly when I figured out how to make a hero that was invincible. I slaughtered whole armies and captured multiple cities all with one lonely hero..
Yeah + the AI was horrible as well, but still..the game itself is a legend. :D
Actually I am curious. Never written a mod before but the outlook of this game is making me very interested in trying my hand at it. So out of curiosity where would I need to look/research/study to get my feet wet at modding?
Python coding knowledge will be needed if you want to make more serious [total conversion] mods. However, adding a new spell/weapon/armor/unit etc. will work via editing .xml
I would like to see some kind of "paper doll" system. In my opinion this would add a lot to the RPG-feel - plus isn't it just more satisfying to drag that newly aquired flaming sword to your right hand instead of clicking on it in a row of items?
Yep, I absolutely agree. [e digicons]B)[/e] [Btw the paper-doll idea has been brought up already a couple of times..]
You could. In the XML you can pretty much define anything as a resource and make something require it. In Elemental, we won't make swords a resource but modders could implement a very sophisticated economy where armories produced swords and shields and other items that went into the global pool.
Awesomeness. This game will have a very long life, because of the powerful modding features. Basically almost everything wi
Sounds good to me.. :)
Woot!!!..can't wait to begin the testing. Damn, it's 22:00 here, so no 1Z for me 'till tomorrow. [e digicons]:S[/e]
I would even settle, or hope it remains in place, for the need for the infrastructure required to build "stuff" need be in place, with Caravans being abstracted to be the delivery method if one is to be sacrificed. Caravan pilfering does sounds oh so FUN though, but I can see it having negative FUN aspects for someone who wishes to create trade but has a neighbor bent on preventing it, even at the expense of his/her own empire, just
stager: yes. There will be a pacing option but it'll be different than what we've done in the past. You'll be able to change it mid game back and forth to suit yourself (kind of like in Sins where you can hit + or -).
Pacing option? Hm, this sounds a bit weird to me, but maybe it will be a helpful feature. We shall see.
I expect that multiple other races will be modded in very quickly.
Very quickly? Someone will have to make 3D models for these races as well....:P
Quoting Tasunke, reply 71 If you do not wish to see the forest for the trees then its not like anyone can show you. Hold on a second. If some wish to be in the forest picking wild flowers and ignoring the trees, then they to cannot be shown. There has been a fundamental shift in E:WoM resource model. I assume everyone can agree that to be a truth. Just because some folks prefe
I would just prefer making things more expensive for being farther away, but taking longer also works.
I would vote for "taking longer" actually, because that is more realistic.
Quoting Sarudak, reply 58 Is 1z up yet? I don't see it in the 'view history' part of elemental in impulse... Yeah neither do i...
View History is working for me...besides I think that 1Z will be released tomorrow.
I'd settle for very unlikely to repeat anyway. Just a random generator that chooses everything from enemy type, to quest goal, to background, reward and location seems like it would be good enough. As long as there is a lot of possibilities. Every update should also include more.
Agreed.
One problem the "average" user has modding even a supposedly mod-friendly game like Elemental is coming up with decent graphics for their new content. Wouldn't it be AWESOME if a game like this shipped with something similar to the Spore creature creator tool? Spore was disappointing as a game, but man if I could take 20 minutes to make a fully animated really kickass looking dragon to use as a faction army or wandering creature or quest NPC...then use t
