Now I don't know much about coding, but I do know that even Rome Total War several years and years ago, with thousands of units on screen at once, could pull it off. So I'm sure Elemental could pull it off as well. Long story short, desynchronized animations. Meaning that when units move, or even just do their idle-animation, they are slightly desynced to not look like identical robots moving in perfect harmony. It looks incredibly artificial to see soldiers in

There's no need to play the Be-Different-From-Civ game when it actually hurts gameplay and UI friendliness.. A simple popup "City has finished xxxxx, what do you want to build now?" is an absolute neccessity in 4x games. This makes me think of Galciv though, where the notifications to the right of the screen are far easier to spot.. Perhaps because they are at the bottom right above the minimap? Yeah, LOL... I think that's it actually! Move

Is this intended? I somewhat like using the proportional unit scale on the campaign map as it looks a bit more, proportional.. But when a battle occurs, the units are still equally scaled down, while the environment, trees etc, are obviously scaled up! The first genuine feel i had was that my troops actually shrunk even more as i entered a battle, now resembling midgets! Seperate settings for the unit scale, or having them scale 1 step up in battles would feel like it makes
While we all agree the animation speeds in battles in Elemental WoM were abysmally slow usually, to the point of being in slow motion if we're talking "realism", i find the animation speeds to be way too fast in FE! Lol, we are never happy, are we? [e digicons]O:)[/e] I was surprised that the options let you choose between normal, fast and superfast. But no options below normal! A 0.5 speed or at least 0.75 speed option would feel absolutely perfect for me.
Yeah but even the tooltips are opague black. It just feels too spacey for a fantasy game. Paper fits all, evil or good.
I really do.. ALOT.. I very much dislike this modern galciv'ish interface visual style. Note, i love the improvements of it, i'm merely talking about the visual style of it. The skin if you will. And where the book / paper style still exists, it seems so white and clinical. I miss the warm paper tone.
What is the point of testing like this? Serious question. I don't think anyone sits down to play a 4x game with the intention of winning as quickly as possibly, whether or not the AI can survive a turn 10 rush is kind of irrelevant I would think. I don't see how it could fare well anyway, regardless of intelligence. The way the game is set up your main force is your sov, and your sov is also the unit you explore with, so if you st

We *explicitly* want tactical battles to be a quick and fun event. Derek has told me that anything that makes a tactical battle take more than 3 minutes to finish is a bad thing and I have come to agree with that. Which, it turns out, is how MOM was. MOM tactical battles were extremely fun but didn'

Being a bit more conservative at first is a good idea; it ensures a game people want to play, instead of a game people dream about until they realize it sucks.
<p
Quoting Sanati, reply 8I'd really have to play it to know for sure. From what I've seen in screens and videos it essentially looks like a WoM mod. It's the same core game, the same major assets, the same layout, it's just been modded a bit (or a lot) with some alternate gameplay rules and some new spells and monsters. Basically if you look at FE screens next to WoM screens, you can't really tell the difference, other than some pu
WHAT?! The Fall From Heaven modder is the project manager for Fallen Enchantress?!? Put this on the box, no joke. I had no idea. Suddenly I have massive hopes for the gameplay in this. (i'm still not in beta) Modders have huge "gamer pr" value. Heck, just as an example, if i saw an expansion for Civilization 5 i'd just think "oh great, it's another half-arsed addition with no real deep gameplay". But if i saw the same expansion "box" (or features list online), with a
I was an early buyer (i think i even pre-ordered??) of WoM, yet it claims no such thing on that page. Just gives me the normal "pre-order now for 39.99 (or what the price was) and get in beta 2!". Then again, the whole Gamestop buying Impulse thing messed up my accounts a bit it seems. I can download Elemental and my copies of Sins + expansions & Galciv2 + expansions in the Gamestop Impulse client, but if i log in to the Stardock Store website, an exp
Yeah. Especially very border/territory-specific spells. Some of the most interesting ones gradually changed the terrain in your territory to whatever your units were most proficent at fighting in (desert, grasslands, tundra etc). But i suppose as Elemental already does that automatically it matters less :) It would be interesting to see a more terrain-heavy implementation though. Perhaps making the terrain change gradual when taking over or building a new city, and having your u
This is my biggest question right now regarding FE, will there be spells (endgame high cost spells) that have 'cool' empire-wide effects? I'll use my fav fantasy strategy game as an example, Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic. Such as, a spell costing upkeep (or just lasting a few turns) that grants vision or denies enemies from seeing far into your lands (a sort of "Dark shadow terrain" spell). Or something like, if you're playing as as human race you could cast a

To me it seems the problem with Elemental from the start was a lack of proper planned out game design. Through all the patches and everything the past months, things have changed so much and in such different directions, it is clear that it wasnt thought out from the beginning. I don't know if it is a matter of development time or not, perhaps developing the engine took too much time or focus away from the gameplay concepts. I just feel that Elemental is insecure, I don't
I did the same, however while i can play the game, i cant login to impulse from ingame, it says my account does not have access to the game, lol? Even though i just downloaded it via impulse.. Sigh.
Oh, you have to turn off "show beta versions" in the impulse settings and, idk, re-download the game i guess.
