Giant Rock Spider FTW. Great Wolf with the howl? Oops my army just became deadlier [e digicons][/e] Beastlord is definitely the funnest thing. Training all those other boring troops sucks the life out of the game.

Without stylized lighting everything is lit very flat and simply. With it on, you get cool sunbeam type effects and moody lighting that makes you feel like a true hero. After applying this lighting fix you should compensate for the darkness by upping the brightness in the advanced options. Although some others in this thread are good with setting it at 50, I have mine at 56-58. Contrast is best set at 50.
I usually inject SMAA, which solves the common issues associated with these AA techniques. unfortunately FE crashes if I try it :/
I tried doing this too with SweetFX but yup no go [e digicons]-_-[/e] But now with the latest update it seems to be running way smoother so I just run 8x MSAA without much framerate complaints.
As far as I can tell the blur should almost be completely removed where it matters most, with the exception of the city name boxes on the tiles, which I think might be because of some atmospheric lighting effect. The game's actually quite detailed especially when you zoom in, but the blur was hiding all of that. They should add in sliders to adjust the bloom and blur in the options... from what I saw in the code it looked like they were starting to do it actually, so maybe it&
This bug is still in 1.0.
Thanks all for the suggestions and feedback [e digicons][/e] I've settled on 56 bright 50 contrast now.
Ok I lowered the brightness more on characters, upped the saturation and added to the OP now. Download

Try this file? To tone down the character brightness: Download I actually did bump the saturation a bit already in my fix, but I could increase that too. Edit: Ahh ok I see your pics now. Yep it's much darker than mine at 58. But I wanted to be able to see the terrain more clearly. The game is super dark to the point some things are pitch black on default settings.
whoa! brightness 58 is way too high, are you sure about that? makes everything look washed out.
Got any pics? For me it looks just like the post fix screen above. 58 worked well for me, but I guess it might vary based on desktop settings/tastes.
Cool, I'll try it out for the de-blurr. Since I don't rotate the map usually, the other fix doesn't really do

Haha [e digicons]|-)[/e] I didn't think anyone was going to get around to it anytime soon and I think I would've stopped playing the game if it didn't get fixed, which would be a waste of my $$$...
Alright so this was bothering me enough to go do something about it. Got rid of the intense shadowed side on characters and buildings and toned down the massive blur/haze effect. Mod fix here Just unzip it all into the Gfx/fx/fxo folder replacing the files. Backup the originals if you like. If you like the super blur/haze look of the original, just don't use the post_hdr.
Ok, glad I'm not the only one who notices [e digicons][/e] Also, while I'm on my soapbox, not a fan of the full screen bloom/vaseline effect. It even covers town names on the map screen.
Not sure what to call it but can the directional lighting be toned down? In one angle everything is lit properly, but then rotated around the opposite way everything is quite dark. I get that the sun is shining from a certain direction, but the shaded side tends to be a bit overshadowed leaving things with less detail and harder to make out. Kind of hurts the graphics and the OCD in me makes me keep rotating the camera to get the "sunny" side. Light side: <a title="http://imgur.com/mZ
I've only played about an hour or so of the campaign. It took me 6 peasants with clubs to kill a tiny spider O_o
