So certainly blame lies with all parties. Jon could have refused and left the project; He did not. But I personally would attribute much of the blame to the publisher, and allow Jon to be judged based on his work in the future.
I think the fact that Jon has left firaxis to come to work for SD speaks volumes to this fact. Honestly, though it is much easier to blame people for products that you don't like than to understand that they like everyone else are simply trying t

Recently, I thought about making a thread similar in theme to this one with my own thoughts on tactical combat. In truth, I still might. Yet, I felt like I should take a moment and give some insight as to where I stand. Any improvement to tactical combat starts with the units themselves. Any change to tactical combat, which does not serious rethink a few things about the units, simply put a band-aid on without addressing why tactical combat is less fun than it could be. A standard uni

I the first two Suikoden games though I felt quite a connection to my character, his actions and the trials he went through. The story telling points are why some of my favorite TV shows of all time are the new BSG and The Wire. Most of the characters on those shows are deep and never defined in moral extremes.<br /
I will say that i only treat you like I would expect to be treated if I was a crock
Wow! This is the most insane perversion of the golden rule I have ever heard. Let me take a moment to spell it out for those who may not completely see how amazingly insane this is. Firstly, downloading copyrighted materials does not make one "a crook". So to say that you would treat someone who you do not actually know is a crook in this way means you must treat everyone you even remote

Honestly, the skill library was created with the idea that it would be used in conjuction, though I may actually merge the two libraries in the next version of my library.
both great characters, I just feel like the depth of Jowy has always stood out to me. I am especially fond of characters that aren't cookie cutter and adhere to personal morality or make tough realistic decision. Esp when they are realistically flawed, nothing is better to me than a game (or any story telling) where I have moments where I'm not sure if I'm doing the right thing or if the 'bad guy' is really bad.
probably the most interesting char in Suikoden 3 which is inferior to 1 and 2 btw Imo Jowy is one of the greatest characters in the history of RPG's.
I agree to the inferiority of Suikoden 3 to 1 and 2, but not to Imo Jowy being one of the greatest rpg characters. Then again, there is some mean competition out there, like Locke for FF6 ( FF3 American) or Frog from Chrono Trigger.

After conversing with Cari_Elf, the code for LifeSteal is in fact screwy. According to her, this wackiness is a result of the spell not actually killing the unit, but it will be fixed for 1.2. I will make a note of this in the guide.

I actually posted that list of modifiers just to get it out there. I will be updating the guide sometime this evening to outline all of these modifiers.
And again, the golden rule does NOT state that you must be a pushover for societies assholes. I would give the same lack of respect for any other criminal. If someone was to bully my friends I would not give them any respect. I would probably kick their ass. Keep going on about the golden rule, but again people who have no concept of morality will not abide by any rules. People who steal do not abide by any rules, If I stole from someone I would expe

This is a library of special abilities which can be applied to weapons, items, creatures, and units. This was created to be part of HeavenFall's Artifacts mod, but I would also like the rest of the mod community to feel free to use the library for their purposes as well. I only request that due credit be given when used. List of New Abilities: Troop Buffs: Rally_Attack Rally_Defense Rally_Assault AllOutAssault Mark_Attack Mark_Defense M
If I could, here are a couple more useful tags. %b Can be used to give a spell a cost or perform an effect per turn of its duration, surprisingly. 1 Does what it says. The following is used to define a spell effect Effect file name Offset from caster/target, listed as three numbers (denoting X,Y,Z offset) Between .01 and ?-- used to scale the particle effect Integer... delays the effect from casting, I assume.

A Guide to Creating Tactical Spells for Elemental: In this guide, we shall be outlining various generic spells and game modifiers to allow the average modder to easily put together interesting and appealing spells for the current system. This guide should be considered more of a reference guide than a tutorial, though we will be taking a deeper look at some of the components in order to give an

Woot! We have finally broken 500 downloads, and apparently the mod has been pinned along with Expanded Factions, Artifacts, and Adventure Content Pack. I am really excited that support for this mod has been so positive ;)

I personally am holding back judgment about a single individual. While I may be upset about Civ V and its current state, I am keenly aware that game development is a team sport where some of the players don't actually care if the product is good. Looking at the Jon Shafer's career, we see that he not only worked on Civ V, but also Civ 4 and all of its expansions, which were collectively a great addition to the genre. Those of us who have worked on AAA titles know that the process is hard work

Not to be short with those defending a side that I myself am defending, but please do not antagonize or belittle those with the opposing view. It is in fact what these people want. Instead of furthering the public discussion, we spend our limited time and effort becoming side tracked by those who would simply destroy civil and intellectual debate. We all should be aware that many people are being taught that, when on the side of a weaker argument, one needs only to prove the willingness of th

Right now, spell immunity is a little bit OP, and basically makes a creature immune to most things magical. If I remember correctly umberdroths are naturally immune as are sions. This makes these units annoying as hell to fight against since they have special abilities and you get none.

The site was named after piracy, and the owners took the court as a big joke. There seems to be some wackiness with the method I was using to emulate this. Before 1.1, deep gash and decapitate were both fairly powerful abilities. I will try and put together a change for these, though they will probably function differently in the new version.
