Oh, I didn't even put two and two together until now. I played your pike and blade mod for mount and blade, posted in that thread quite a bit too. Funny seeing you here.
So was there an announcement? It is tuesday everywhere in the world now heh.
The magic system does not need a revamp, was what was trying to be said. It does need IMPROVEMENTS, but the basic system is fine. For example, making magic more powerful does not require a whole new system, it is actually quite simple to do. Also, making intelligence more important for magic is also very simple to do, any modder can do it right now actually. The idea of magic taking turns to cast might be something that would need to be added though.
They just released the 1.1 patch not that long ago. I think the next patch is slated for this month (January)
I don't think this is a good idea, sorry. I don't like being limited in how many cities I can build. I don't have too much trouble with the AI building cities. If they get in your way then just destroy their city.
Frogboy, found a bug which I believe is with the 1.1c exe. Whenever a unit dies in battle, and then the battle finishes, it shows that units portrait on the top left side where it shows your city and unit portraits. If I click on the portrait it brings me to a foggy area of the map. If I save and then load my game, the dead units portrait will be gone but it is annoying heh. Also it seems when I alt tab out of the game, my custom sovereign's portrait changes to Janusk f
Diardiamond did you try the experimental EXE that frogboy recently released? 1.1c? It makes the AI much better.
Just so you know, I just started up a new game with the new 1.1c EXE that frogboy gave and near my first city there is a arcane temple, earth shard, horses, iron ore, farm and out of reach of my city but a prime spot for my second city is a lost temple. This is just from 2 minutes of exploring, actually not even two minutes so I would say that resources have been increased.
Guys, what level of world difficulty are you playing? I think that the world difficulty affects both the level of monsters and the scarcity of resources. If you set your world difficulty lower then I think there will be more resources. This will not affect AI difficulty. Also, have you tried the experimental EXE that Frogboy released with better AI? I believe it also increases the amount of resources.
Cephyn, you need to up the difficulty on the AI to at least Challenging. Also, try the test EXE that frogboy released, it has much better AI. You must set each AI difficulty manually. A lot of people are getting confused by this. This means that there are two difficulty levels. The first one that you see is just the world level, that affects resources and monsters and such. When you are picking which AI's you want in your game, there is a difficulty setting you can set. You must set each one
I think the game is great. I also keep updating my EXE to the latest one that Frogboy puts up and the AI IS SO MUCH better. Still has a ways to go though. I know that a lot of people are probably not playing the AI on the hardest difficulty because you have to manually set each AI to the difficulty you want.
Too slow? Man, I don't know what you are doing wrong but it is definitely something. Once you get up 4 or 5 decent sized cities you can basically pump out new techs and spells every couple of turns. You are obviously not playing the game well. You can also change the speed of research and stuff you know. you can also lower the difficult of monsters and the AI. Are you playing on a lower difficulty if it is too hard? Or did you just try once and then come here to complain?
I think hes just trying to say that you don't need to post in every thread about the out of memory issue when there are many posts about it already. This journal is about some fun that Brad is having with the game and you are posting about out of memory issues. This is not the place for it. Post in the support forum.
Actually, it does become my business because I am trying to read what people are saying about this game and instead have to look at posts by you that have nothing to do with the topic. I guess I will just report you to the moderator since you wouldn't take some friendly advice.
[quote who="Nick-Danger" reply="55" id="2852033"] Quoting LujanD, reply 54Nick-Danger, is it really for the sake of courtesy, or to sate your own curiosity?Regarding curiosity -- I'm curious as to who you think was being spiteful, as I saw nothing that fit that insult. Regarding courtesy -- if one is going to accuse someone of spitefulness, it is courteous to have the nads to stand behind it by specifying who/what. That courtesy allows others to judge the merits of your
There is also a couple buildings which give mana per turn, I think one is the essence temple or something. i forgot their names.
ddzwik, I would like to hear what you think about the game after you play it a bit. I personally like it a lot, just waiting for the AI to be improved, more magic and better tac battles.
Well, it needs some balancing, but honestly, balancing wont be difficult now that they have the basics in place. I was thinking more about them adding more quests and rewards and more interactions with NPCs
Eh, you are wrong, it is an RPG world, it just needs to be fleshed out a bit.
I think they are adding more campaigns with the expansions.
Wrathius, your population has nothing to do with food, when you build a house it uses one food. So if you have 4 food, you can build 4 houses. Those 4 houses can support x amount of people and your city will continue to grow in pop until it reaches that.
I had this same issue actually.
Seriously, the AI can be defeated pretty easily, please get that AI up to snuff pleasseeeeeeeeeeee. Just so you know Brad, it is even worse when playing with lots of factions and on a huge map. Even when the AI countries get huge in size, their armies are still just small.
[quote who="Allquixotic" reply="104" id="2848659"]I really, really, really, love the gameplay, performance and stability enhancements in Elemental 1.1. That said, I am really, really, really disappointed that I've been harping about the Large Address Aware (LAA) flag for 3-4 years for every single game you guys have released, and you have stalwartly refused to enable it, without so much as providing a justification for why you cannot enable it by default in your builds. So tel
