The starting side in a tactical battle is now chosen randomly. The attacker and the defender have an equal chance to go first. Well that's a step in the right direction! Should make tactical combat more interesting in the short-term at least. :)

Why are people so self-righteous about DLC? If that's a revenue stream that allows PC gaming to stay in business, I personally don't have a problem with it. Anything else in life that I want to upgrade requires additional funding; why not my computer games?
the CTDs seem to be related to special ability usage in battle. For instance an air elemental uses it's special ability in battle. I see the start of the animation (hand go up in the air) but then it CTDs right there on the spot before it finishes.
Only anecdotal (no log), but this happened to me as well. Only CTD I had today in about 6 hours of playing with the latest patch.

For a Pangea type map, take out all of the "SpawnSize" lines except Huge. The number you enter appears to be the number of map sectors that the continent will occupy. For example, I created a new 9x5 map (45 sectors), and wanted mostly land. I entered " 30 " and " 35 ", and this generates maps that have 30 to 35 sectors of land. Same goes for Mountains and Forest - enter numbe

Should fix the scaling issue. Are points for heroes in there too (at work and can't check right now)? I'm thinking 2 for heroes, 3 for sovs, to try to keep everyone relevant.
For anyone curious, changing this value is universal for heroes (sov and al

@ James009D - I have been unsuccessful getting the game to read modified tech files. I tried different directories, renaming files, etc. etc. and no luck. Please let us know if you have any success.
did you start a new game, and have the game option "use mods" enabled?
Yes to both. Really not sure what the problem is here. I have modded games before (including other Stardock games) so I'd like to believe I'm not completely clueless.

Guess I'll wait and see if someone else has any success modding the tech files.

Ok, something's not right. I'm making simple changes to Techs_Amarian.xml and they are not appearing in the game. What gives? I have the file in the Units folder - no luck. Then I tried editing the actual data/English file - still no luck! Where is the game getting this info if not from this file? I also made some changes to CoreSpellBooks.xml, and those show up and work just fine. Any ideas?

The guy at my Gamestop (which still has a PC section) looked it up and told me that since it said "Rating Pending" that meant it probably wouldn't be out for "like a year". So I went to Best Buy, grabbed a copy off the shelf and went home.

The game box states "each game produces a new randomly generated world." No, it does not. We just want what the box says is included.
