How about a thread dedicated to tips, tricks, tactics and strategies to play, master and win Elemental? And a request to my fellow Elementalities to note the Elemental version number your TTT-or-S applies to in TTToS threads, since Elemental is going through some significant changes that signicantly affect how stuff works, such as new building support costs in 1.08 over 1.07.
Chibiabos
Is it just my imagination, or did the Staff grant a 0.25 tactical speed bonus in 1.07? It does not in 1.08.
If, by less resources, you actually mean more, because there are more food resources and you now get a gold resource. Pffft.
Since there will likely be a slipstream update on this, there are two routes this can go. 1. The previous behavior can be used such that higher quality NPCs cost more or 2. The UI informs the player they need a higher level adventuring tech to recruit them. Do you have any preferences?
I am undecided. If QA tested and confirmed the same rules apply to the AI trying to recruit, then I would be willing
Well, slipstream fixed but not in the way folk might expect. Champions not being recruitable is actually now a feature, as higher level champions are now only recruitable when you are higher level; I am not certain if that is your Sov's level, the level of whomever tries to recruit, or if its a 'Notable level.' I put two levels into Adventuring hero-revealing research already but have had no noticeable increase in recruitable champions. Will try putting points into Quests to
I am spending a lot of time breaking from playing to comment, especially on that unrecruitable champions thing. I saw a couple Stardock official replies to -other- threads (oddly not the one I made specifically targetting it) that it is partially a new feature, partially a bug -- previously, you could recruit any hero from the getgo, but higher level heroes would simply cost more (the SD official indicated this was based on their level above yours, but in actual gameplay, it was my expe
Hmmm ... I wonder what other undocumented new features are in, and whether the fact that a majority of heroes on the map are not recruitable is intentional. That gives me some hope that something was changed to cause that effect, and some sliver of hope in that, that it might be intentional (maybe more heroes are unlocked by something, but I did put two levels of Adventuring into new Heroes but still have only 2 total heroes I have been able to recruit out of some 10 or so I have seen r
No, I can't. As I posted in its own thread, it was not until I encountered the 6th champion that one was recruitable at all. The first 5 had no "Recruit" nor even "talk to" icon under "Actions" if I had the NPC champion selected. They are completely unrecruitable. :( 1.08 CHANGELOG ADDENDUM: + Most -- well over half -- of the heroes in the game world are no longer recruitable by anyone. Not at any gildar price.
Fortunately, for a switch I decided to make a female Sov. I know, eyes rolling ... I "roleplay" a lot, including female chars, but believe it or not I had not in any of my Elemental games thus far chosen a female Sov. I figured it would make it easier to marry, since most of the heroes are male. I had no idea how crucial that would be now that, for some insane reason, the vast majority (at least 5/6ths) of the champions are no longer recruitable. I married that farmer
It cost me 20 as well. I wound up forgoing "Adventuring" to take it.
I finally found one hero I could recruit, after about 6 or so I could not. A food bonus giver ... which I expect will be even more vital to keep in my city now that some things have new costs to maintain including food, so I don't expect I should imbue him and use him as a mage warrior. Might imbue him to have him enchant my cities with food, etc., though.
Is anyone else able to recruit heroes? The only hero-like entities I see around are NPCs with no ability to recruit them -- there's no icon under "Actions" if I click on them even if I am right next to them. Nothing says why I can't recruit them. So far I've encountered two of those, and absolutely zero recruitable heroes. :(
Has anyone yet found a hero they can recruit in 1.08? I just found a 2nd unrecruitable champion, this one providing tech knowledge. So far, zero recruitable heroes. Nada. Zip. Zero. Zilch. :(
I've never seen that before 1.08. And its a 20% food production bonuser too ... what a waste. :(
What the Fallen!? The very first hero I encountered in 1.08 is a "Champion" identified under his avatar in the 'card' summary as a 'Soldier - NPCs' whom is unrecruitable and can't be spoken to. I have my Sov one tile away, and with my Sov selected, the "..." dialog has the red circle/slash to indicate I cannot talk to (if it were in a kingdom) nor recruit the character. If I select the hero and go to actions, there's no "Recruit" button -- not one greyed out
Yes, it was a real problem ESPECIALLY if a large unit was on the tactical battlefield like the dragon from that one quest. It was exquisitely difficult to send a unit to a tile anywhere near the dragon regardless of what angle you viewed the tactical battle from (wish the tac battles had the 1, 2, 3, 4 angles similar to the strategic map). :/ Sometimes the terrain itself made it difficult, with where your mouse was pointing not exactly correlating to the grid tiles.
Spiderling ... err, webmaster, time to white-out the 7 and scribble in 8 on the main www.elementalgame.com page. :)
THANK U for reporting it as I got so frustrated waiting that I grabbed my non-gaming laptop and plopped myself in the t.v. THANK SD for posting it
At this stage, the technical issues that were present at launch should be fully addressed.
I guess in-game bugs, like Pariden's traits and Organized Sovereign's movement points at exiting a city or loading a saved game aren't considered technical issues?
Would probably force players to take some disadvantages for points, though.
It would help a lot if we could click on a global resource (on the tiny global resource panel at the top) to get details on where the income for global resources is coming from, what the expenses are, and what global % bonuses or penalties are being applied, similar to how one can with the resources on settlements. This would help out a lot when trying to figure out where to stick the one-per-game or one-per-civ wonders to improve resource output, by finding the settlem
There are faction differences. Most traits are working, but these two don't, making Pariden handicapped to play.
Actually, even 50% essence isn't bad, especially if your Sov is high level with a lot of essence anyway. Remember, your child starts at Level 1, so they can up their essence well over their Sov's since the higher levels take longer to achieve. If your Sov is, say, level 8, imagine how much you can dump into the child's essence by the time the child reaches level 8!
That's utter hogwash, frankly. I wiped out an AI that declared war on me, and my reward for survival is suddenly everyone wars with me?
I still have my MOO2 CD.
