I just hope that Stardock never gets bought up by some big conglomerate like EA... Bioware USED to be a great developer, and now since they've sold out they've gone way down the tubes...

You guys realize that within ~2 months of release, people are going to make tons of mods with elves, dwarves, hobbits, and God knows what else.... I mean we knew there wasn't going to be those races in the official game from day 1, but we also knew that they'd be modded in rather quickly...
Welcome to the world of internet forums! Seriously what's going on here is nothing compared to what happens on forums for bigger properties. Blizzard's forums were mentioned and that's bad, but the worst has to be some of the TV show fandom forums. I'm a big Doctor Who fan, and I've tried to be part of the popular fandom forum (gallifreybase.com) but some of the vitriol that's spewed over there makes me sick. Needless to say, I haven't posted there in a while
Sounds excellent, I can't wait to give beta 5 a go!
Beta 5 isn't being released to the public... No mention of the spellbook? What has been done in that regard... please tell me there's a lot more spells (and a lot more unique spellbooks)...
I'm actually playing Dominions 3 right now in anticipation of elemental... talk out just one more turn, that game is like crack for TBS fans like me... The Dom3 spellbook is quite monstrous and best of all the spells are unique and each of the spellbooks are very different from each other. Can someone from Stardock (Brad?) please give us an update on what the plans for the spellbook are for the 0 day release? There were a lot of great suggestions in the earlier spe
This could have gone in the other thread rather then making a new one, I would think.... As for your suggestion, how would that work when you also need to use essence to imbue champions and such...
I personally think that the magic system is the most important part of the game. It is after all called Elemental War of Magic . I have some suggestions on changes to the magic system. Essentially, I'd like some more aspects of MOM in the game. MOM's magic system (at least mechanically speaking) was perfect IMO. It wasn't balanced and the AI didn't know how to use the spells effectively, but the way spells were researched a
The speed at which spells (and research for that matter) are learned is too fast right now IMO.... Also the spellbook is still awfully bare and uninteresting... it needs MORE spells....
First of all I'd like to thank the Stardock team for their hard work on Elemental. Beta 4 is a big step forward... it's almost there but I'm sure there's more work to be done. I first want to report on performance on my system. It's much better then Beta 3 but it's still not up to the standard of release IMO. &nbs
Maybe listen to something that gets you into the fantasy mood... like Celtic music or Gregorian Chanting.... ;)
Now my question is which version will the game reviewers get? The RTM 1.0 version or the day 0 update (1.01) version? If there's significant differences then wouldn't you be worried about review scores being lower?
First of all, I want to thank the Stardock team for a quick update today. You guys really are the best. I'm feeling much better about this game coming together. Anyway, I just want to inform you about continuing performance issues. Thankfully, it seems like the graphical artifacting is gone... although the blurry graphics with advanced lighting is still there. However the performance is even worse. After playing for a few turns and especially after tactic
See here https://forums.elementalgame.com/384754
I tried that workaround and all I got was more graphical artifacts and an overheated video card!
Some more pics: Notice the weird colored lines and bars on the screen After a few turns and tactical battles, my framerate dropped to a crawl. At that point I started getting even more graphic
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9170386/debug.err I've also been getting the disappearing buildings bug that I saw in a prior video preview. Once I zoom to a cloth map though, the buildings come back. I'm also noticing a weird fog-like graphical corruption that's occurring even when advanced lighting is off.... but right now I'm completely unplayable with advanced lighting...
Fireball is a strategic spell. Only Tactical spells (like fire bolt) will appear in tactical combat.
Here's my options: Default except disabled advanced lighting and disabled anti-aliasing. As you can see, performance is getting worse as the ma
With beta 3b, I'm still experiencing some major graphical and performance issues on my machine. First of all, with advanced lighting enabled, the graphics are so blurry that it's completely unplayable. <img src="http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o110/delijoe79/Elemental2010-07-1704-24-34-92.jpg" alt="" width="64
I know I'm going to get flamed for this post, but I think this needs to be said. I'm really looking forward to Elemental. I've been looking forward to a sequel to MOM forever and Elemental is essentially that. Considering that, I don't mind waiting for however long it takes to make sure that the game upon release is up to the standards that Stardock has set based on it's past releases. I know a few months back, the option was still on the table to delay the game un
Upon starting Beta .806, music and video stutters severely, as well as the UI when creating a new game. When I get into the actual game however, this stuttering stops. So it seems like it's only when the background video is playing on the main menu. It also happens during the cool C64 style intro too :(. At first I thought it was a codec issue so I messed with my codecs but nothing works. Here's my debug.err:
DebugMessage: Version 0.806
I'm going to tackle this Book by Book... first some earth tactical spells... Note: I'm not that familiar with the game system so the numbers I'm throwing out are just approximations. First of all, like MOM there should be tactical versions of enchantment spells (like Stone Skin) that are only effective during a single battle... <span style="font-size: smal
