Have any of you guys tried LOWERING the resolution? Every debug.err I see here shows you running at very very high resolutions. Go to options and try lowering the resolution first.
It's not the resolution. I ran it at 1280x1024, got the same problem at 1024x768... I think the above poster had a good idea.... the graphics card is not being used correctly... Maybe it's a driver issue I don't know

Well... now instead of getting single digits when viewing large cities, I get 10 fps... Seriously this isn't a problem with my computer as every other modern game runs without framerate issues... it's something wrong with the engine...
I won a $50 gift card! I've never won anything in my life, thanks guys!
Nah I like it the way it is... it doesn't make sense that you can train a troop in a certain weapon/armor and then just equip them with new ones and expect them to be able to fight effectively... Now combining single units into squads... that's something that should be in there .... Please Stardock tell me you're adding that in the future...
This was happening in the Beta... I haven't run into it yet in 1.0X but that def should have been fixed already...
No that's not the day 0 version. I did see a small increase in performance but still the game begins to chug when viewing cities as soon as it gets reasonably big...
I don't know if this post is necessary now that I read Frogboy's post on the day 0 build, but just in case.... What I did was, in order to test performance and the AI, I ran a small map with the fastest game speed, and all I did was continuously build up my one city, research tech and spells, get the resources around my one city, and see what the AI would do. I played 297 turns, got my city to level 3, researched about 3/4 of the way through the tech tree and I was only attacked
Frogboy said that tomorrow's day 0 release should have major performance improvements, so hopefully we'll see that...
Play on 1280x1024...no AA... same low framerate It could be driver issue granted, but it's definitely not my computer...
Yeah what he said above... I have a core 2 duo E6400, 9800gt, and 2gb ram on XP... why should I need to run on a cloth map only when nearly every modern game including dragon age, mass effect 2 gets well over 30 fps.... I love this game but I'm sorry the performance is terrible right now...
Have you guys worked on any of the general framerate/performance issues on the 3D map?
Personally the biggest most urgent problems with Elemental now are the crashes and the poor performance. I posted on the support forum about this. The fps that I'm getting right now is unacceptable and just as in the beta, it gets worse the longer you play. As far as content goes, it definitely needs more content but I know that will come in time. Its still a fun game as it is now. Oh, and good job with the UI... I love it, and its miles better then beta 4.
AA level doesn't really effect my performance... When I took that screenshot above, it was at 2x AA... lowering to zero might increase the fps by 1 or 2.... Again... framerate is fine in tactical battles, on the cloth map, or on the 3D map where there's no animated objects (such as cities)... but zoom out and all the animation kills the framerate...
The \elemental\mods directory seems to be the place to put the mods... Enable "Use Mods" in the game options, I think that's required too....
Okay I figured out how to get it in game... I made 2 new files, one for the item and one for the fire arrow effect...
Cedar Shortbow with Fire Arrows
Is there a way currently to generate a random number in the XML files to say generate a random damage number? Say I want to create a spell that does 2-4 damage to the target unit per turn. I only currently see fixed damage, or damage modified by stats (such as attack or intelligence).
I have no idea where you're getting that code from... and what value should be a 1? Maybe there's some function that makes an item available for unit design.... I don't know yet... Edit: It looks fine in regular mode to me, check your browser...
Same for me... zoomed in or on the cloth map is fine, so is tactical battles... but zoomed out 3D map I get between 10-15 fps Core 2 Duo E6400 2.2GHz NVIDIA Geforce 9800GT 1GB 2GB DDR-800 RAM Windows XP 32
Weren't we supposed to have an item editor in the workshop? I actually see the assets for it (such as the dxpacks) so I'm assuming it wasn't enabled for this version... I hope the day 0 will have it as it was a promised feature. Also, I've been trying to add new items manually in the XML file and the item won't show up in game. What I'm trying to do is create a bow that shoots fire arrows.
<!-- Equipm
There was a huge thread requesting spell ideas... apparently nothing from that thread was implemented yet...
Well I personally like to have a lot of choices... Yes alot of MOM spells were useless, but there were WAY more then 60 spells in MOM that were useful... Also, this game needs global enchantments...
While I know that we're going to see content updates in the future and I know that it's fairly easy to mod them in, I'm rather dissapointed at the spellbook at launch. It's not big enough for one thing... I count like 60 or so spells. There's not that much spell variety either. It's really nowhere near MOM in terms of that and while in time I'm sure it will, I was hoping it would be close, but I guess not..
They were random in the beta, why wouldn't they be random now?
Yup can't get into the chat either... when I type /join #elemental nothing happens and I get kicked from the server within a couple minutes...
