I don't remember who it was but in September on the chat I asked him what would be a good fantasy game while waiting for the Elemental Beta. He pointed me to King's Bounty - The Legend. I bought it minutes later and it was a lot of fun! I liked the different musics in the different zones, the multi-quests and the original combat system. I'll probably buy Armoured Princess soon. I was just waiting for good reviews

Kings Bounty Armoured Princess or CIV IV - Two top quality games for a thinking player!!!! I have Fantasy Wars, but I find it VERY difficult. Also I hate the time limits on missions. Still I will reinstall when I get a new laptop that can run the game better, and try again :)
@Louist - If you play the game of Attrition then it will be very difficult after a while as some units are in limited numbers and recruiting is expensive. You have to be VERY careful in the beginning and focus on winning 10 battles without losses as fast as possible. This will give you a medal and extra leadership (larger army). You should not lose units in 80% of all battles (at least in the first 50-100 battles).
As an old battle isle fan, I had to try the demo. It was overly simplified with some lame "cutscenes" between missions. I uninstalled fairly quickly.
I find it a bit odd that they specifically make mention of new races being put into Armored Princess if the player can't actually play as that race. Usually that sort of product description is limited to strategy games where you can play as different races...
I think you misunderstand. In this game you play as a human, but you can recruit all races on your quests. What you can buy and where is randomized every game, but all the
Kings Bounty Armoured Princess is GREAT (singleplayer).
Kings Bounty The Legend - its a super game!!

I saved a bookmark and will check it out in a few months. I have played the Warlords games for hundreds of hours.
The market does tend to slip through fingers of fists that tighten too hard. If hardware gets better and cheaper as fast as we expect, then smaller private/indie alternatives would pop up with their own systems. Worst case scenario I write the game myself :) Why would any game company need to discontinue games in the future? The game is in the cloud, hardware is cheap, customers pay (a little). Games would run for a very long time. Games could even be sold to other comp
I have many of the same thoughts as you Raven, BUT there are positive aspects to consider: As the technology gets more advanced it will be possible to make good games cheaper and easier. Why wouldnt cheap gaming engines evolve that private persons and small companies could make good games from? Why couldnt you and me Raven get some friends together and make our own cloud from some shareware in the future? If the clouds get too restrictive then indie movements will make
Heh ... I was just throwing out some ideas. All the real choices (in such a situation) would become available starting at size 2, and size 5 would be preferred above all else.
Ok I think there should be other factors then city size. It just feels strange that a city just below level 3 cannot build a library (or something), but after one more citizen and level 3 suddenly they can. Why not just have some buildings so expensive
Raven - You shoundt be too pessimistic. Friendlier companies can make "friendlier" cloud systems where you dont get screwed by DRM or other useless demands/functionality and such. The big masses will go like sheep to the biggest developers (as they are today), but there should always be room for others like 1C, Stardock, Paradox and such to make their own systems.
If they follow the City 1 - City 5 play of Tasunkes description then I fail to see the strategy at all. The city building could be totally automated more or less. You would always build the same in all cities (at least the first ones) cause you have no choice. The only difference is what food sources you have. Not much strategy in choosing between wheat and sheep if you have a wheat field and no sheep available. I could write the AI for that :)

Interesting - but this was just a little tease. I cannot imagine a situation where you would (early game) actually just sit in town to attract more people. It would always seem to be better to search for treasure laying around. As well as quest, getting exp from spiders and such.
In MOO2 you need transport ships to distribute food. Is there any similar mechanic here? Like building caravans/transports for food? It would still be a global resource, but you needed some infrastructure for distribution.
Hi there! Sorry to rain on your parade, but you should not buy a game like that for $45. I have read about this game and it fails in may areas. It was going to be some sort of community game where you traded online with other users and such. It all failed, and I believe that the mulitiplayer part is shut down. http://news.bigdownload.com/2010/01/27/cities-xl-to-shut-down-mmo-features-cities-xl-2011-announced/ I strongly sugg

For example, Heroes 2 graphics are more cartoony but also more charming than the "realistic" graphics of Heroes 3.
Being a huge Heroes fan, I can relate to this point. I also think that GalCiv lacked variation. A planet is some squares to be filled with the same things. I didnt feel instant gratification buy queing up these things. In MOO II it was much clearer (the effects
