In MoM summoning was just a strategic spell. Summon as many as you like with the downside being the upkeep cost (mana per turn) and competition for the casting queue (in MoM you were always casting something with spells taking many turns to complete). FE/LH casting doesn't work like that so... what I'd like to see would be some kind of resource for summoning tied in with upgrading your outposts... which seems like too much work to see in LH. -- Takkik got there first.

It's an amazing game but not for everyone. At this price it's worth finding out for yourself.
rahal, where should the steam.cfg be located?
in the steam directory, top level in theory it should let you use steam without having to go into offline before you logged out last time (providing steam shut down properly) -- just checked and this still works. No idea why this isn't sticked on steam forums, it's essential knowledge if you want to use steam with an internet outage or

You'd think after so many years Steam would have fixed this issue. The thing to do to avoid the problem is: 1) Always exit steam before turning off your computer. Don't leave it to windows to shut it down. 2) Keep a text file called steam.cfg containing the lines BootStrapperInhibitAll=enable ForceOfflineMode=enable This should force steam to start in offline mode providing you followed (1).

I was guessing. Now I'm more curious as to why you assert so confidently that pc gaming has to die? My point was that there was a certain zeitgeist in the late 90s - mid 2000s with adoption of 3d acceleration that created a "pc gaming" scene for early adopters. And that scene was inevitably going to disappear when the tech matured. This is what a lot of people (in their 20/30s) mean when they say "pc gaming" lan parties, upgrading every six months etc... I figured that's what

Could be. Anythings possible considering how tight-mouthed Egosoft are being. But we know there is a game and, apparently, it's in closed beta. - I forgot Larian for the list: they have 2 games on the way. Dragon Commander imminently and Original Sin in development. - Anyway my general point - to reiterate - was that this is really just a matter of your age and your preferred genres. For myself I began PC gaming before 3D acceleration so I have no nostalgia

Like I said the only thing about PC gaming that is declining/dead is the hobbyist-upgrade-to-play-the-latest-shooter-scene. If that subculture was important to you then, sure, things suck. But for the rest of us things are looking great! Eador AoW3 Age of Decadence Chaos Chronicles Wasteland 2 Project Eternity Stardrive Might & Magic X X Rebirth Torment 2 Dominions 4 ... and more I can&

I don't see how anyone can say that unless we're just talking about shooters e.g. if you're a "hobbyist" and your thing was upgrading for the latest iteration of unreal. But for the genres I'm interested in - strategy & rpg - pc gaming is looking better than at any time in the last ten years (or ever).

As long as we don't end up in the situation where the "AI guy" gets transferred or let go when the game ships... I like that the ceo (holding the purse strings) is actually playing, taking feedback and contributing to the game.

AOW3 will be another HOMM+ & Eador (while awesome) is it's own thing. Other than being turn based neither is a direct competitor to FE. There's still room for Civ + RPG + cool stuff. So, my choice would be either evolve FE or reboot with lessons learned. What FE does well, it does better than MoM.

Reply to Eador in PC Gaming

Sandbox with up to 16 players. Eador is a very good game. The only issue is it doesn't play nice with Steam resident (just turn it off). Something to do with conflicting dll.

I think where we differ is I don't find the sots2 system that different to sots prime. Granted it was annoying when there were significant load times returning to the strategic view but those are fixed now.
