Are we still due a 2.0?

A completely trivial thing but it BUGS ME SO MUCH : The amount of time a game turn represents. With each turn being 3 months it can be decades before much happens. My early heroes (I'm being charitable and guessing that the sovereign is somehow immortal) should be either retired or even dead of old age by then. GalCiv2 has the opposite problem. Each turn is only a week so in a few years I colonize the galaxy
Ok :) Any chance we can get prefs.ini to remember the screen resolution when fullscreen=1 ?
Quoting Tattyhat, reply 2It's updated alright, but it still says it's version 1.05 1.05? That's quite a time machine you got there...
Still says 1.50 for me too. Ran a steam file check.
@ten9 you misread my post I think? I'm not down on this game (which I do own). The comparison with the old Warlords series wasn't a negative one, I liked those games.
AOW3 doesn't have much depth (outside of the tactical battles). It's about as complex as the old warlords games but without the careful balance those games had. The AI cheats on every level (income, units, what it can see) same as AOW2SM but at least it does something while it's cheating. AOW2SM ai just sat there. I still find it baffling AOW2 is so beloved by some people. The only thing going for it was it was pretty and had such a huge menagerie of races and unit
I bought the game. First impressions are that the look is a bit too sumptuous. It's beautiful but confusing (not the ui which is great but the units and terrain). And performance could be better. FPS on the map is pretty bad (worse than FE). In the battles it's fine.
The game won't even start on win 7 without the unofficial patch.
"For the PSU, unfortunately my best options are either a Corsair 600W or a no-name 850W ... which one would you recommend?" Travel to another EU country and physically buy something else to bring back as hand luggage? You've specified a very high end system and while 600w is ok for any single gpu it's not recommended for the titan and the 4960 is a 130w cpu, you are not doing justice to a computer where every other component is high end.And you will not
Quoting rahal, reply 33 Quoting Stuie_, reply 20 Everything about the series has always been top notch (no pun intended there) - the music, the art, the gameplay... Really looking forward to getting this. Everything? Did you never want to play a sandbox game with AOW2? Never notice that the map generator was terrible and the AI basically non-functional (not the usual "bad

This sounds quite a bit like Eador. Is that an inspiration (it's a good one if it is)?

Is this a preview of the no-rotate view thing you were talking about?
The problem with adding in a new faction is that it would be hard to make them unique and AI friendly without editing C++. The Dead are a good example of this.
Aren't "The Dead" getting AI attention in the next patch?
"With that slightly tangential rant out of my system, I’m pleased to report that Age of Wonders III doesn’t simply contain a random map option, it contains a bloody good one." - from the RPS preview This is leading me to being more optimistic. AOW2/SM had a terrible awful hopeless useless worthless broken map generator. Now if they can work similar level of improvement with the AI (AoW2 has about the worst AI of any strategy game ever)
I'd like to see the dlc infrequently with plenty of content. Psychologically I prefer to pay more at longer intervals than less more frequently. Things I'd like to see: more distinctive stuff for factions like the unique buildings that were suggested earlier. After that more quests are always good. Now I've thought a little more. What really adds to games like this for me are the random events (in a single player game you don't have to worry that
Is there any ETA for 1.6 and will there be a beta on steam?
Great! Been waiting on this to start a new game :)
speaking of which, would you guys be willing to give up the rotating camera in LH in exchange for a massive boost in performance and visual quality?
Another YES here. I've never used (except by accident) the rotating camera in FE or GalCiv2. Always found it more of an annoyance than anything else; particularly in galciv which doesn't autoreset the camera.
Everything in Frogboy's post is == Master of Magic except for the hero development (in MoM heroes just leveled up).
This game you are talking about sounds a whole lot like age of wonders.... Maybe with a little dominions thrown in.
You've never played master of magic? AoW2 was a very poor MoM clone.
100% exactly precisely positively like master of magic 2! --- Frogboy, don't know how this would fit with your resources and budget but (IMO) one of the charms of MoM was the 'fluff' which gave you a feeling of being a wizard ruler in your tower. e.g. the 'cutscene' vignettes like when you did summoning, seeing your character up close sometimes accompanied by a familiar, the presentation of your spell books, the various accoutrementslike staffs cauldrons et
Fix for fullscreen mode! It makes such a difference to performance.
It plays most like Paradox games (europa universalis, crusader kings etc).
Ultima 6! I'd had an amiga up until then :)
