LMAO -My average trace route test being from the command prompt is 250 ms to wc and i am able to download stuff at an average of 160kb and it does'nt matter if i use IE,FF or stardock central, that's not too bad a speed considering i loose around 800kb to get thru to this and other US sites as a speed test on my isp shows 1554kbps or on a USA speed test site it shows 1245kbps A good free for personal use screen capture utility is http://www.mirekw.com/ clik on "windows freeware" c
http://www.yetisports.org/ if link won't work google for yetisports, there's some free(free for personal use and no spyware) game downloads and wallpapers, the games are hardcase you wack the pingu or thro as far as you can, there's also another but is not downloadable where you wack the pingu and blood spurts out and he bounces further when he hits mines...lol... tho i'm not sure if that particular game is at the site
You can select in the properties of that drive to be able to remove without using "safe removal" there are two settings optomise for quick removal or optomise for performance ,the latter is why you can't remove as write caching is enabled,to change right clik on the drive ,select properties, clik on harware tab, clik properties and the settings are self explanetary. On occasions i will get the can't remove thingy for my ext hdd (which is selected for quick removal)but i just turn it off anywa
Before the upgrade i found it depended on the time of day as to whether the site performed well and in the avo my time it would be a waste of time to bother logging in,now after the upgrade it's been run'n sweeeet as with no probs here in NZ, until yesterday when things were a bit strange for a couple of hours or so and i had trouble logging in and out as well as moving about the site, but things are back to normal again today since early this morning and now,and unless any of you live this side
Ahoy ya blaggard scurvy dog pirates is the reason windows is now broken, now swab them decks or i'll report you to m/s and uncle billy will make you walk the plank
Using ff 1.5.0.4 the animations are fine and are working as they do with IE 6.0 and 7.0,have'nt tried opera or netscape yet,the quote function is of no use so cheers ^^^starkers^^^ for how to do,i'm curious to know why in other forums the smileys and cliking on quote work there and not here. if the animations are'nt working and apart from having multimedia enabled in IE and then you install ff and imported would any of these make a diff, unless it's just here that anim's don't work<br/
smedley i would assume if the smileys are'nt animated in your browser then you need to tick "show animations in web pages" in your windows "internet options" clik on "advanced" tab and tick the box "show animations in web pages" under multimedia ?? if that don't work then i'm buggered as to what needs to be done apart from giving me that comp and buy a new one
Unload wb and see if it still does it if it still continues it's not wb causing it
This may help stop objectdock at startup, ccleaner has a button clik on "tools" then clik "startup" that shows what will start with windows, you can use it to delete the objectdock start key,by rights it should disable it from starting and hopefully will unfreeze taskbar,i'm pretty sure the pro version was installed over the free version and that's what's causing it,so long as you delete all of objectdock from your comp things should be fine to start again, anyway just keep plugging away at it yo
What makes vista so bloated = the stuff that makes it backward compatable.
I've been in the same situation but i'm not sure if what i'm about to suggest is how i fixed it,it's caused by installing objectdock over itself??,strangely if you run your mouse near the top middle of the taskbar, but not on it and clik, it may reveal a dock there if so try to bring up the config by right cliking and move the dock to the top and deactivate the bottom positioning ??,if that does'nt work download ccleaner and install, then as before delete OD,once done go into program files and de
Wow i can't get cxp to go above 10% cpu usage even when running other progs and having the cursor animated and lets face it as software goes it's not exactly a huge app,a couple of things i can think of is close unnecessary processes and also configure your comps to provide more cpu and memory to running apps rather than background processes
Once you choose a skin there is no going back Arghhhhhhhh windows xp skin hutrzzzzzzzzz my eyessssss preciousssssssss
to find the folder you first need to go to "my computer" then clik open,(you may need to unhide, look at left for "unhide contents" WARNING DO NOT DELETE ANYTHING OR ADJUST THE WINDOWS FOLDER there should be a folder called "program files" open it and scroll thru till you find either "stardock" and open it and look for the OD folder or look for the objectdock folder if there is no stardock folder, once open you should recognise some of the folders =Images, docklets, url, themes
Before you can install any skins you first need the software that deploys it,so if you downloaded a blind you will need the windowblinds software to apply it after opening the file if your like me and prefer to save to disk. It's cheaper to buy objectdesktop-(OD) rather than windowblinds=(wb) by itself as OD includes ip,wb as well as the tools to make your own icons and blinds and suites
The diagnostic tool is KB914440 ,it mentions use with a service person or remote type help, whether oneself can use it i have no idea ,i also can't confirm if the connecton to the adsl that i have was affected by any particular patch as there were issues with my jack point as well as two bloom'n filters at exactly your time frame...lol...i only new about a patch issue thru a newsletter email from tech republic, and once i went to ms update site it was there ready for download as was a few patches
Running spybot by itself won't be enough without the other two,you also need to know what software you have installed on your system, and whether it incorporates stuff that will install more spyware on your system after cleaning like free screensavers etc, then there are trojans if your antivirus and firewall were'nt kept upto date. Use this for checking what processes are ok and which are not it's free for use, http://www.processlibrary.com if link won't work google for processlibrary
Chances are you have progs like kazzaa etc installed if so the best advice i can give is reformat and start again, any software you want to install must come from trusted sites such as CNet,there are also articles at cnet on combatting spyware and free lessons EDIT: Also what smedley said for a free two way firewall and you must have one activated before re-connecting to the net after a reformat, and go directly to microsoft update before anywhere else
effort what effort ?? gives jafo a clip on back of head *pokes tongue*
You think is'nt good enough, install Adaware by lavasoft ,spybot-S&D ,Windows defender-which has real time scanning, update them all then rescan if nothing is uncovered you should be fine
After the scan process re-enable system restore, also if you need to save space later you can let windows delete all but the most recent restore point- disk cleanup-clik on "more options" tab,at the bottom of the little window look for "system restore" clean up, quick way to find disk clean up is right clik on c drive and then clik on properties, let the clean up scan then the window will appear where the more options tab is
Avast V4.0 Home edition is free for personal use for antivirus Regarding spyware or trojans ,you will find that you would be better turning off system restore then booting into safe mode as the scanners won't be able to remove any of them out of the restore folder coz if you use syst rest to go back to a previous state you may reinstall the offending ware. EDIT: Jaramia : The ware you mention is a known trick whereby they install crap on your comp or give false pop ups to
How weird i have norton system works prof 04 & internet security prof 04 ,on a couple of occasions have had a prob with the updater not working and error message saying reinstall,so used their uninstaller and reinstalled the lot and it worked fine ,no need for SP2 reinstall, now as far as i can tell all the software that was installed at the time the break happened is back in the system and all is good, me thinks MS purposely issues bug fixes that break norton so as to give themselves a foot in
What's this eFont scandall you talk of jcRabbit,i just googled but there is no mention,so wots the goss ??
