I'm waiting for a sale on the "expansion bundle": http://www.impulsedriven.com/products/ESD-TGN-W263 30 USD is way too much for this, considering the current cost of various games on steam (for example). I'd pay 10 USD for the expansion bundle. Looking forward to a future sale! // dt

Hi Guys, Ages ago I bought GC2 and have never bought any of the expansions (DA, ToA). I just looked on impulse and I can see the GC2 "Expansions Bundle": http://www.impulsedriven.com/products/ESD-TGN-W263 However I think that price (36 Aussie Dollars) is a bit steep at present: any plans for an impulse sale? cheers and thanks for a fun game, -- dt

Hi Guys, Was thinking about getting the GC2 expansion bundle. I'm currently playing (rather badly) through the original Dread Lords campaign, and was wondering if I buy + install the two expansions, do new features (like asteroid belts + spies) show up for use in the campaign? ta, dt

Hi Guys, I've started playing GC2 again after a long hiatus, and I think on this laptop I installed GC2 by copying the files over from my (now retired) desktop to this laptop and activating the game (creating sig.bin). I can play the game just fine and everything (Dread Lords v1.5) but I want to know if I can link this local copy of the game to my SDC or Impulse (I have both installed) without having to redownload everything again (limited quota available)? cheers for
You know if you had a problem with it then why the hell come and comment on it. I get annoyed just as much as you do with it but WHO CARES. if you have a problem with his post then don't $&@(*$ read it.
This is a bad argument because it doesn't make the author aware of the issue, and the fact is, his massive wall of text is difficult to digest. It's also laziness on his part - he's just written a stream of consciousness and then clicked submit. I think t
Overall, you've convinced me. For the *base* game. Lots of things are really cool in a single player game, but only for a time. What happens when I've been playing GalCiv2 for months and I'm bored of making new ships? What happens when I decide to finally turn off battles because I've seen it all? What happens when I no longer read the text and indulge myself in the single-player experience?
Expansions are the other alternative to adding multiplayer in order to increase t

Are "AARs" when people write stories about their game? I used to read the ones written by Stardock people when GC2 was first in beta (before the expansions). If that's what AARs are, anyone got some links to the best (recent) ones?

Allow variable rates (discounts) for pirates when a weaker player is buying them, to allow a losing team to easily send the pirates off after the stronger team. This makes sense from a "roleplay" perspective, because pirates would always want a balanced galaxy, so one team doesn't rule everything (and then wipe out the pirates).
When you can't swim and the water's too deep to wade, it is normal for people to head for shore.
So eloquent! :) This game does suffer from "The Slow Death", where once you're losing, you pretty much can't turn it around unless the enemy leaves. There should be some kind of bonus for smaller teams and pirates... like the pirates offer a discount for their services (it's in their interest never to let one side win, cause then they'd get smashed by

* Adding ships to fleets seems a little flaky - whenever you select a ship not in a fleet and right click on the fleet as a destination (usually via the empire tree), that ship should auto-join the fleet. Even with auto-join enabled, this doesn't happen. * The AI is really easy to beat when you rush them on easy/normal modes (small/medium maps, 1v1, 2v2). * When you select a bunch of ships, including a capital ship, and click create fleet - the capital ship (biggest ship) shoul
4X games generally don't have campaigns. In fact, I can't think of one that does. Civilization? Nope. Master of Magic? Nope. Master of Orion?
GalCiv2? Yep. And a good one.

Here's my idea for a diplomacy implementation - alliances. If you want to forge an "alliance" with someone, you both sign a treaty.... and deposit money in a "galactic bank" of some sorts (future version of IMF or similar - GMF - Galactic Monetary Fund?). I'm sure we could get advanced on how much money you put in, but for simplicity's sake lets say 50/50. Perhaps there's various factors involved in who puts in more - and perhaps there's some diplomacy skills that lets you negotia

So how does the SP component work? After reading the "Lore" section of this site it appears there's some kind of story unfolding. A lot of the info about sins so far has to do with the game mechanics and user interface etc. I can't really find any information about the single player. At the moment, I'm playing GalCiv2's "Dread Lords" campaign and I really like the idea of a story progressing over each mission/map that I play. I'm hoping sins has something simi

Been watching too much Deep Space 9 but it did get me wondering why there isn't any cloaking technology (or is there) in GC2? Be nice to sneak ships past starbases and other ships and so on..... I haven't looked at the full tech tree, so apologies if this kind of thing is already in GC2!

I don't mind the lack of MP, but there's something nice about playing MP coop against a bunch of computer players too - and teaming up on them mercilessly

hey guys, I wanted to install GC2 on a laptop so I can fuel my addiction while I'm at my GF's place She doesn't have any net connection, so is there any problem with burning the latest SDCentral, a full archive of the latest GC2 and register with my serial? Does GC2 require a net connection to register a digitally downloaded version of GC2? cheers, dt

I think GC2 needs a nice modules summary screen, so that I can see what modules I have available BEFORE building a constructor and sending it out to a starbase. I'd also like to see what modules actually do when I'm browsing the tech tree. at the moment they're just pretty names.

I have the bonus material etc (downloaded from https://www.galciv2.com/registration.aspx) : GalCiv2_10D_BonusPack_022106.exe but I think it should have just shown up as a sub-item of GC2 in SDC - like Tutorials/Movies/Multimedia - I was expecting to see "Collectors Edition Bonus Pack" or something - what happens if the bonus pack is updated? -dt
