I've done some thinking about it, and post my latest round of thoughts here. Weapon Recommendations: *Note General assumption is that each tier of weapons are/will be designed to be used against latest armor. (IE like spears, axe, dagger, warhammer vs. leather. ) ** Leather armored target is going to have 12 DEF , 2 more with latest shield, 5 more from defending, or 19. ** Chain armored target is going to have 22 DEF, 6 more shield, +15 def

@Kongdej Re: Defender - I use defender a lot when making defensive type units. Defence is king. At least till they balance/ up attack ratings on weapons. Re: Enmity - actually according to the xml, kingdoms are races of men and empires are fallen. (See CoreRaceConfigs.xml ) I already see it as kingdoms vs empires. Maybe its not apparent to those not looking at the code. Or could just be worded better. Re: Suggestions, Goo
This was one of the very first points I'm making in my next set of 0.952 play notes. Leveling is happening WAY too fast. My hero kills a single darkling shaman...and levels? My sovereign kills a single bear cub...and levels? Granted I cast Sovreign's Call on my capital, but in only 6 turns...it levels? (I haven't even had time to explore around and decide what I want to level into!) <br
IF essence was a bit more common to get hold of than it is now, there shouldn't be a problem. Outside of outliers where the game can make awful starts.
I think the dragon needs to be able to resist it. It's just silly to me that a level 4 Sovereign could affect a level 13 dragon. In fact, the sov or champ should have to be of greater level to have a chance at the spell affecting the dragon. Only by say stacking certain items or taking things that give spell mastery on level up could make it so the caster could be even level or slightly lower.
I think essence just needs to be more common and usable to all the factions, thus making Pariden's faction building good but not godly. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. Things like Tower of Dominion could give essence. Or so could Temples of Essence. Oracle could be bumped to +2 essence on city level up. So it's not as godly. You're not doomed if your second city has 1 or 0.
I'm going to say try peeking in corequests.xml [e digicons]:P[/e]
Forgive me if you've done this already, but changing Arena to give trained units 1xp / turn @ 100% just like the adv. guild does for heroes.
Totally agree Heavenfall.
Quest editor. Map editor. Campaign editor. Faction and Sov editor. Item, Spell and monster editors. FE is going to be soo much fun. Campaign games, sandbox games. Making mods. Trying out mods.

Out of 10, the beta is Playable: 7 - knocked off a couple points because too many people are reporting crash-bugs or graphic bugs, load inconsistencies, etc. My experience has been rather bug/crash free since the .95 beta. Fun: 8 - the game is really fun, but the UI gets in the way in many places and
IIRC The event said trains the first in your queue if they are building units. So if you're building a building it's not going to help much. But should get the tech and pop bonuses though.
I can't see it, it's invisible! [e digicons][/e] PS. Nice catch!
I think Merchant gives 2 gold where in the old game it was 1.
I guess AI can't cope with the crappy starts a human player can get. Zilch for essence. No shards. Is that your border, Tarth? or is it adjacent to wildlands?
1,2) Outposts can expand your ZOC even further. Upgrading said outposts with High Tower will expand it again. As far as when the population gives a boost, no it's said in-game. It just happens as your population increases. As far as buildings go, you'll see +1 ZOC on things like Monument, Town Hall, etc.. 3) Must be 3 tiles apart, it won't let you build if you don't. Box will be greyed out. 4) No and No.
Agree, its bad or worse now. I've seen some craazy stuff. Like 1 or Zero available settleable tiles, let alone any resources nearby. Not to mention you may or may not get a shard. I want to say WTF, cause using DENSE settings should increase the probability that you get some resources. I've had just as crappy starts with dense as not.
Perhaps it is not OP. Perhaps the dragon just needs more resistance. Because it sounds just way easy as you say. The spell itself may be okay, cause I tend to view water as a whole as underwhelming. (like most everything compared to fire / death ) I know that's my opinion. Anyways. With some tweaking on dragons resistances. Perhaps other monsters will need it too. You should have some kind of chance, but at the levels you describe you shou
I actually like the current leveling pacing.
I agree.
Looks like a case of "you can't satisfy everybody"... What about a world setting "XP pacing" that would make XP progression more or less quick?
That is true too. Some slider outside of monster density would be interesting or a way to mod it to one's own liki
Well every item, be it armor, weapon or mutton chop has a tag, but something makes it only give you 10% of that amount. It'd be much easier to say bump to 20 or 25 than go thru every item. I'll keep looking.
We've gone from debating whether units are glass canons to whether they're too tough. As for cities, the free defenders are there to defend against minor threats. They shouldn't be able to hold off an army on their own. I think of them as being like the police.
I am very happy they way they work. Never envision them to be powerful, or need to rely on them. However they do
Yeah it's really weird, saw it happen in several of my games. I guess I didn't think too much of it, reminds me of starbases from GC2 and how influence could make for some craazy shapes.
Well the reason it's seldom is cause founding second cities is like the first, never know what you're going to get. The AI does make use of Essence. Not all of my cities have essence. It's much the same with AI. It's much more important though when can be used either to build stuff faster or tech up faster (enchanted hammers / inspiration ).
It would be rude of me to say nothing has been done, but I feel even with dense monsters / challenging AI / etc. A lot of monsters are still tame. There's a bit more than before, both monsters and army. Already wolf packs and mite mobs. It's an improvement. Still not what I envision with the larger monsters though. Slag and Drake are most frustrating. Cause whether or not they'll actually do something is a toss up. *sigh* AI st
