Please make sure your drivers are up-to-date. They are dated 2008. If new drivers do not help, try changing the "Maximum Mip Map Levels" option to "1 Level". The option can be found in the "Video" tab of the Options screen. Please let us know if that helps, or if the problem persists. Thanks, CodeCritter.

The options should not be "locked down." Please check the properties of your /my documents/my games/elemental/prefs.ini file, and make sure it is not set to read-only. You can manually open the prefs.ini file in notepad and near the top you will see entries for the screen resolution: [Video] DisplayWidth=1024 DisplayHeight=768 You can change this to your native resolution: [Video] DisplayWidth=1680 DisplayHeight=1050 and save

Donegal, your video drivers are about 4 years old. Please try the ATI site to download new drivers. Your laptop manufacturer may block ATI's drivers, though. So if they do you'll have to get new drivers from them.

Does this graphical oddity happen every time? If so, please try changing the "Maximum Mip Map Levels" option (in Video tab) to "1 Level" If that doesn't help, try reducing your screen resolution. These are not meant to be optimal solutions, but if changing these options eliminates the problem, then it can help us narrow down what the real problem is. Thanks. - CodeCritter

Hmm, sounds like the intro movie is failing for some reason. Can you please run the game outside of impulse, then post your debug.err file here. If you need help getting that file posted, please see this link: https://forums.elementalgame.com/364285

Although this sounds un-related, please try a lower screen resolution in the Video tab of the options screen. Does this enable the Save button?

The pictures on IGN have a zoomed in view, so you're not really seeing the whole hill, which makes it harder to tell. If you look at the picture linked by CoffeeMonkey, you'll see it is much easier to tell where the hills are. Also, you're right in that it is harder to tell with a still than a moving game. When you move the camera around, you'll see the differences in the way the light hits the hill which makes it very clear where the land is sloped. [quote who

Any and all ideas are welcome here. Anything from game mechanics, types of units, spells, items, features, or anything else you'd like to see. Although we can't guarantee that we'll implement every idea, I can guarantee that we regularly check the forums, and as many of our fans from other games can attest, we do our best to give each idea a hearing, and many of our fans' ideas have made it into the other games.
