The issue self resolved after a reboot. Duh. Sorry for raising such a fuss.

[Edit: Sorry, I meant to post this in the Support forum, no idea why it appears in the main section instead] Not that I seriously expect an answer at this point, but, alas ... I played the game last night, enjoyed it. Wanted to continue this morning, game stopped at splash screen. Two things changed in the meantime: a) Flash Player installed a new version automatically, and b) I changed from using my headphones to using speakers. Returning to headphones made no differenc
Please include a projected release date in th sticky part of the thread. Could you?
Fantastic response time maybe, but at least one of the issues persists. I have been attempting to download the latest version for some time now. End of last week, the download would perennially terminate with "Download verification checks failed". I decided to let the problem settle for some time, figuring it may be fixed by some time this week. I retried last night, and the download went smooth until about 1 GB, when I had to shut down the computer. I resumed the download this morning,
Anticipatory goose bumps all over. No kidding, just happened.
Indeed, when I first looked at your picture, my immediate thought was: He's grinning like someone caught with his pants down (by someone bearing to him the news he's won the nobel peace prize, for example). For some of us (me included), dorky pictures are part of our heritage and destiny. My excitement is beyond relaying. Ever since the game was officially released I wondered how Kael's magic wand might transmogrify this game of giant but unrealized potential. But I didn't even dare h
There's always time for humour, indeed. And then there's time for quartering the jester. (An old habit of kings and other sovereigns)
Indeed, the error is reproducible. Just tried again, again the games freezes after I hit End turn on turn 88. Turn number changes to 89, but the End turn button changes color and the game hangs. Here are two savegames http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5117968/1%202.EleSav http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5117968/2.EleSav A memory dump was, however, not generated. At least there is no such file in the directory where all earlier dumps are found (C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\All Users\An
This was my first game with build 0.32. The game froze when I got to turn 89, upon reloading at turn 87 it froze again at turn 89 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5117968/debug.err_100509 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5117968/DxDiag%20100509.txt
Hi, getting game freezes or CTDs is not if but when for me. However, this time at least it was rather clear what triggered it, so I'll report. I developed housing, and hence my settlements were supposed to replace all those huts with more advanced structures (appartments?). That usually makes the game pause for 2-3 seconds, and then it continues. THis time, 3 seconds pause, then CTD. Hope those files are accesible via dropbox http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5117968/Elemental0_
That's what I get. They seem to come some time after I created my first units. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5117968/DxDiag.txt http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5117968/debug.err http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5117968/Elemental0_291-2010-03-04T13-56-33-953.zip <a href="http://dl.dropb
BB, I'm sure you say that to all the girls! Let the good words roll! Or was that boogie?
@ magicwillNZ: You sure do have a way with words! @ porternielsen: How does this make the game more fun? Hey, you know, us teachers ... But seriously, if it doesn't add to the enjoyment of the game (sic!) it's not worth thinking about it. But I believe it would add to the challenge, in adding to the strategic depth (especially in its growing effect the larger you race becomes), while also yielding a credible mechanism for the world being altered by players' activities. I second wholeheartedly. I'm down to about 30 min average gaming time in one session. That used to be closer to 6 hours way back when. Under those circumstances, I had the time to get back into my game by scrutinizing every city and unit under my command. No more
The game will have farming, mining, production of all sorts of gadgets, and the generation and use of massive amounts of magical power. What's missing from almost all games of this sort is the concept that any such activity is almost invariably wasteful, and that discharge of waste to the proverbial "environment" usually leads to the eventual resurfacing of the waste at unforeseen places. I'm presently working as a chemistry teacher, and this thought was spurred by one of the kid's an
Wow! After preordering at the end of June, I was shut off from the internet since Sep 28 due to Deutsche Telekom screwing us over our move to a more remote location. I come back online early afternoon on Oct. 1, to find the deadline for Beta entry is that very day. I scramble to Impulse to start the download, and see a line entry "Elemental - War of Magic". I click on "install", it says "Preparing download" at the bottom ... and then stops, and the line entry disappears into limbo.
I'm in. Ordered right after learning about the game at the end of June. Can hardly believe how giddy I am to get my mouse over a unit creation or faction design or whatever menu. In essence, this game is what the witchdoctor (pre-)ordered.
