Interesting read, Brad. Love how after WOM all your posts start with a disclaimer. I believe the best solution would be to find a way to encourage spreading champions around rather than just nerfing the champions themselves
Maybe the champions could have bonuses that only buff the non-Champion units they are stacked with?

Derek & the Stardock team are doing a very good job of reworking this game based on our feedback. I think your AI coding is making a big difference in how much fun potential the game has.
Researched Recruiting which says it allows you to recruit Level 5 champions. When I go to the location of the Level 5 champion, it says I need to research Recruiting. Recruiting says completed on the Tech Tree. Tried reloading saved game and then shutting down game & reloading saved game. Same results. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16706254/Jim%204_3.EleSav
Same factions and sovereigns, same world, same victory objectives (is the master quest the same?), pretty close to the same monsters, same turn-based structure, same city building, same researches--my first impression of playing FE beta was that it is the same as WoM with a better UI. Most of this walkthrough holds as true for WoM as it does for FE. What difference there is, is in the details. So be careful when you go emphasizing that these are d
My roommate bought WoM in September of 2010 (well, technically *we* bought it and split the price, but we put it on his impulse account, because I didn't have one at the time), but we haven't seen anything about the game yet on his impulse. How will we know when we get our turn at the FE Beta?
ZombiesRus5 beat me to posting a reply (had it all typed too). Here's the latest update as to who gets to be in on the
Diplomacy - That's what I used to see in E:WOM, but I haven't had it happen once in FE. I played a couple of games (Normal for world and AIs, conquest only victory condition) in both .75 and .76 beyond the 200 turn mark & haven't had war declared on me or even been threatened once. In fact the one time I declared war & took out a city I had one of the other factions want to pay me to sign a non-aggresion pact. I thought that was pretty cool.
Right now it feels strange, "there's a lone, fairly unarmed guy of a different faction minding his own business, lets go over and murder him" Says the good king... While I understand the need to slow down the Hero leveling process, there now seems to be a mismatch between the speed Heroes level up, and the levels of the loot being dropped. It really wasn't an issue in .75 if a Hero picked up loot that couldn't be used until level 5 or 8 when they went out for the first time, they'd be able to use it soon enough. I was passing old items down to my champions almost every time I picked something new up. However, with the&n
I've only played about an hour of the .76 Bets, and I kinda agree. However, (and I don't know if you were in the 1st beta round), what you're seeing is a reaction to the criticism of the 1st Beta (.75). The champions ramped up so fast that they overpowered everything and kinda steamrolled if you played on normal difficulty. Now that game really moved quickly, which I enjoyed, but then you ran out of challenges in the early game. I think you'll find
Sorry, I personally don't see the problem. I play primarily as a magic user, but just like in MOM, I make decisions in each tatical battle based upon the opposition whether to rely more on my champions might or my magic, but I always cast some spells in battle, even if it's only to heal. My champions are diversified so my flexibility is maximized. I usually have a fairly large reserve, which once you get a couple of shards is pretty eas

So please take that as a suggestion I think it's safe to assume once its final release, it will be available on Stardock Central for updates. Ok I thought that SDC had been discontinued? Honestly I wasn't aware that it had been re-instated as a download platform for Stardock produc
I still crash fairly often. But, it still has some bugs, sure. Also, depending on when you last played it, there might less content in it. No boats, no minor factions, less armor. Might as well give it a try yourself.
It's actually a fairly enjoyable game if you load Heavenfall's core mod & at least his artifacts mod. Use his other Mods if you want but these 2 at a minimum.
Ran this version for about 2 hours last night without any crashes. Hopefully will get to play somemore today.
Unfortunately, the standard beta exe hanged in an early turn of a new game, so I am a bit stuck now. Btw: where on earth are the save games kept? I can't find them on the C drive or the installation drive, even under "Saves" in the FE directory in the C Drive Users tree. Help would be much appreciated. I've been using off in my latest game & while it is more pleasing visually, it's just to darn hard to place improvements where you want them, even zoomed in. Elements of the city title get in the way and view angle distorts.
I played for about 6 hours last night & only had 1 in game crash to desktop (zip file sent in). When I reloaded autosave, game worked fine. Running 64bit Vista w 8meg ram (older Intel Quad core) 5770HD ATI card. Task manager has me consistantly using 3.6meg. Game very stable for me & I had major issues with E:WOM & memory leak crashes.
I actually liked E:WOM, but there is no comparison between the two games. I started playing FE yesterday afternoon and only stopped at 12:30 (I think my disease is onemoreturnitis) because I'm too old to pull all-nighters anymore & I couldn't take today off. I restarted a couple of times because I like to do custom Sov's (Magic users) and the new Magic system takes a little getting used to. IMHO this game is on the right track and will only get better
I'm going right to making my own Sov. 88% & counting.
Working for me. I'm at 80%.
