The games mechanics are way too simplistic to be a good 4X, it's a massively simplified CivV, which was a simplified Civ4 so... not good. This wouldn't matter of course if it had RPG elements similar to Elemental, Master of Magic, or even Heroes of might and magic or Disciples. It has none of these things however, bland character-less units with no customization (aside from the Civ4/5 promotion system), no player character or heroes to enjoy... basically none of what makes

I am glad you guys honored this, I was always a little skeptical you might conveniently forget or find a reason to justify no longer offering it. That and Toady's consistent honesty with the community really set you apart from most other companies out there and I appreciate it.

Thank you Heyhello. The Progress, I was pointing out the betrayal of yours and our interest in suggesting adding this as DLC. It's a dishonest trend in the market and should not be encouraged by anyone. An alternate argument you could have made would have been to suggest that they dedicate a team to making a proper multiplayer side so as to encourage competative play. It could be argued that this would increase word of mouth sales and

I'm cautiously optimistic
me too, I really hope Kael manages to bring over some of his FFH gameplay, or at least come up with new ideas equaly as awesome. So much talent on the team between him and stardock.
I don't see how Civ fanboyz couldn't be the worst. They are backed by 2k which I believe stacks the deck using shills. These people are there 24-7 to post immediately if you post a dissenting remark. Most aspire to work there, are beta testers, or other types of coders. I found one guy who was actually a beta tester there. His name is Dale. He can say whatever he wants to you in response to your post, but when you reply back even briefly it is t

Yeah, they're quite different, but I wouldn't say polar opposites, exactly. The polar opposite of FfH2 would be me sitting in the real world, not fighting with anyone, and not having much fun. Sounds suspiciously like most of my Mondays.
There yo
Quoting shadowtongue, reply 15I love these threads... I would only be able to voice one potential concern. And that is if you get the game now, understanding it's not 'finished', and wind up being extremely dissatisfied with it in it's current form, will that hurt your appreciation or enjoyment of later iterations? I went through this with Distant Worlds (which is different, but the idea is the same), got it early, thought it wo

There is enough genetic diversity between first cousins to keep marrying cousins together for 10 generations before even the slightest defects start to emerge. It's only really a problem for immediate family. Or, like the European Aristocracy, when you do it for 200 years.
