Re-marriage when sovereign's partner has died

Hi all,

My female sovereign married and had kids. Her husband died and I want her to get re-married. However, I am not able to select the propose option on any of my male characters, even ones at the same location as her. Is there a rule where a sovereign cannot re-marry or is this some kinda bug?

Thanks!

Nope, one shot is all you get!  She should have been more careful with him!

Dynasty, remarriage, kids, etc have been a regular forum issue.

The whole dynasty concept should be completely rethought (like most other things in this game). As a rule of the thumb if something is not realistic the person who suggested it should be covered in tar and feathers and then fired.

Sovreigns should re marry, their children should inherit their title and cities should not disappear (!!!) after a sovreign dies! (Cities disappearing!! You really get the immersive realistic experience when the game follows absurd rules! HAHAHAHA! Someone should also be beaten up before being fired!)

Yup, that the way it is and it stinks.

It's a shame too, because this aspect of the game has such potential.

Also, I don't recall seeing any indications that this is going to be fixed/improved in later versions/forks.

Thanks all.

Well, at least I'm getting kids from one of her sons!

The funny thing is I got her husband killed on purpose so she could re-marry, and then forgot to propose with someone else ... by the time I remembered to try this, it was too far down the track to bother reloading. Oh well !! I will know for next time.

Overall, the dynasty concept is nice. If it was more realistic, it would be less fun. Imagine characters dying of old age in this !!! That wouldn't be fun. But a few tweaks would be neat.

Again, thanks for the replies :)

There is a work-a-round for this, create your sovereign (we will use females for this , but it works both ways). Go to the .xml file for said sovereign, and edit the line that defines her as female to male. Now you have a female that can marry a female. Your children will always be females whether they be sons or daughters. This is how I created my Amazon Kingdom. For my Kingdom of Sodom I actually changed Janusks file to make him female.

Characters die of old age in the Total War series and it is became a multimillionaire series that spawn sequel after sequel, you may say you don't like it, but I CAN imagine how it would be and it would be succesful.

Yeah, I'd love it if characters could die of old age, it gives more meaning to what they do I think, makes for a better story.  Children inheriting strengths of their parents would maintain the stat progress too.

It would really shift the game focuss from one sovereign to a royal bloodline, like a true monarchy. which I think would be sweet.

It would also open up new gamplay choices revolving around thrown inheritence, such as possible rivalry, atempts at usurping the thrown, and whatever else a more imaginative mind can come up with.  Always seemed kinda strange to me to focuss on characterization in a game like this without at least going as far as Total War did.

It is to be noted that Channellers age really, really slowly after reaching adulthood.
