It's fun [e digicons][/e] You don't happen to be a designer..? Traits that affect stats should not be shown on the Sovs infocard. Like if you take 'Quick' then give the statboost and then it's never seen again. Cause otherwise that would mean that after 7 lvls checking through an enemy Sov would be a bit tiresome. So only checking stats + possible special abilities (like 'Counterattack') is better.
Random events = random game. Do we need random and unbalanced game?
You're mixing things up (on purpose?). A random event can both aid you and hurt you depending on where it strikes. Some events will probably hurt everybody. But that's besides the point. Yes, we need a game with random events. It's what keeps you alert and adds that extra lvl of excitement. You hav
Brad said a long time ago that the Stardock (games?)teams are (software) enginers. Enginers make practical things that WORK. How they look is unimportant. Designers make the coolestlooking things they can IMAGINE! HOW it works (and if it works AT ALL) is something somebody else has to think about.... Enginers make systems like "+10 to Agility" while designers do things like "ignores damage if hit by a creature with 5 or less damage but it can
Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor & Heroes of Might & Magic V . Gonna try Rise of Nations Gold & Unreal Gold soon .
It sounds really good. The Master of Magic system can work but you must avoid its pitfalls. Things I dislike in Master of Magic: The very tight relationship between buildings, maintenance and military This was one of the worst things for me. The more military units you had, the less workers you had and the slower your cities grew. In combination with powerful monsterlairs, this made earlygame military usel
My first reaction is negative since it will lessen the arcadegameplay. Hard to explain in one word but in Age of Wonders II (and Shadow Magic) you didn't have a capital. It was just a big city that you probably had your wizard in. Making ties and stuff makes things complicated. Makes me afraid people will save & reload and stuff to save their capital. And really, what's the deal with a capital..?
Damn straight. All hail the computer! [e digicons]:cylon:[/e] I play games when they're a few years old as well and I don't get that "the cake is a lie" [e digicons]o_O[/e] ....YES! Haha that was hilarious!! [e digicons][/e] That also made my watch some other versions of that Saturday Night Live sketch. StarCraft and Sparta.
A hundred times this. I read an article a few months back on how the technical revolution and global information exchange had "failed" to usher in a new era of civility, freedom and democracy in the world. The author went to great lengths to explain why this hadn't happened, and how terrible and sad it was, but the author never even explained why it should have happened in the first place. If you tack on a lot of presumption
I got a hard time thinking of anyone not liking your suggestions. Making the UI better and giving you more (optional) information is an easy sell. Seeing the same animations again and again, it really depends on the game and how it's done if I find it boring or fun. Animations done bad: Age of Wonders: Shadow Magics Dark Elf archers are a prime example of slow animations being boring to watch. Those three arrows took l
Filemanager Unreal Commander The best filemanager I've ever used. Back in the day I used Windows Commander which changed its name to Total Commander. Eventually it stopped working and I searched for a filemanager roundup. Unreal Commander gotted among the highest scores (possibly the highest), it works like Total Commander and I've stayed with it. Using it
I'm following your game but I don't understand much. Shadowtoungue, How do you know who drained your Well of Misery? Was a certain magictype i.e Death used and you know that f.e wonderloss is the only one who got access to Deathmagic due to his nation? Tartarians? *Googles Ulm Tartarian*....Oh! That's one big tough guy!
Then Master of Orion 2 isn't a 4x?
Never played but have seen a little of it 13 years ago. have no idea how the MoO series works.
That depends on what 'sequel' means to you. To me, sequel means "the next main game in a series" like Battlefield 1942 ---> Battlefield II ---> Battlefield III and a better engine. So Age of Wonders ---> Age of Wonders II and then Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic is an expanded version of Age of Wonders II since it uses the same engine.
Yes there is. Because they need to be 3d modelled for the purpose of tactical battles. That's why in EWoM we have less creature types then in MoM. Hours and hours of modellers and animators cost a lot.
True, but there is atleast two animators (Auri, Lead Animator and BoogieBac, Senior animator) with some experience so they should be able to work fast & effectively. In 16h (one day) a lot of work can

Interesting. A few days ago there was only Fallen Enchantress to look forward to and now there's Warlock as well as Sword of The Stars II. Things are looking good. Seems 4x TBS aren't dead yet However, I got this nagging feeling that it is a mediumbudget title and thus will not be as good as it COULD be....hope I'm wrong.... I'm a bit scared that the UI w
