Well, I fooled with a bunch of registry settings in hopes of 'fooling' XP into treating other folders like the Favorites one, but to no avail. The ol' Start Menu didn't last more than a couple of hours . Thanks for all of the suggestions, by the way.
Thanks for the response. However, for #1 I've somehow managed to turn off the icon as there isn't one displayed. Any ideas how to turn it on first?

I agree that the acting sucked. I saw episode 2, Spiderman, and LOTR in a two day span (vacation - no kids!). I'd love to see episode 2 again though - only because the computer generated graphics were stunning. They did some absolutely amazing things there.

Thanks for the post, Brad. It did serve to both enlighten and to clarify some of my questions. In particular, defining the three distinct issues (copyright, trademark, and trade dress) helped a bunch. Overall, this is probably a positive thing since it will give skinners more freedom and artistic license. I was originally thinking that the laws were extraordinarily restrictive, but this helps to set my mind at ease.
While I was a bit worked up when I first posted, one of the reasons that I did post was to try to apply some of the arguments that I've read against ripping and copyright violation to something that did appear as an infringement for copyrighted material. Just to add my $0.02, I don't rate things very often but when I do I always try to leave a comment too. Mostly because if it's good enough (sorry, I only rate ones I like not those that I dislike) for me to rate, then I definitely have a couple of things to say about it. The other reason that I tend not to rate things is that frankly it's kind of cumbersome since the comments/ratings are separated. I have to either bring up the screen twice or remember to click on both submit buttons.

Paxx has a good point about practice. It's always a lot of fun to compare people's "old stuff" to their "new stuff". Usually you can definitely tell that they've matured as an artist, perfected many techniques, have a better overall sense of color, style, etc.

A word to the wise - check out some of the tutorials that are out there on skinning Winamp. Not only will they give you a great big headstart, but they'll probably save you some headaches with the idiosyncrasies it has.

I curious to see how this all turns out. Personally, I'd really like to see your take on the theme since it sounds like it isn't a direct copy. I'm still not convinced that just because something was 'inspired' and not derived or copied means that it violates the copyrights. If you take that to the strictest sense and apply it to Apple's Aqua theme, that means you can no longer do a theme with reflections. Or with the color blue. That's obviously such an extreme that it's ridiculous

Adding an "Updated" box is an excellent idea! I was thinking about what gillon said and realized that now it's a bigger problem than ever - in my opinion at least. Why? Because each time somebody updates a Windowblinds skin they usually get the top *3* spots - WindowBlinds, Win XP Skins, and GUI Olympics. That's a sure-fire way to get exposure!!

However, when you upload a DesktopX object the rules are different. I don't recall exactly what they are, but I know that they used to say that by submitting an object you allow others to combine your object in their theme. I've forgotten whether they're allowed to modify it before redistrobution.
Of course he fails to mention that consistency isn't ever fully achieved - even if all your software was written by one company or one person. Additionally, while consistency is great during the learning or introduction phase, it can also inhibit functionality and use when the user becomes more advanced.
I watch the show often and enjoy it. Unfortunately I don't have any free time now or I would definitely offer to help.
