I've got a lot of opinions on this, but many have been touched on by others in this thread. It's worth agreeing with Treetog though about how it's more difficult to come up with something that's original. Mostly because orginal means that it's not been done before, or at least is very different from other remotely similar things. That's probably because we have thousands of skins nowadays - it's harder to stand out in the crowd now. Most of us are small fish in a big pond! Personall

I should refrain from posting, but what the heck. (stepping on the soapbox) Computers and software are such complex and tempermental things that's it's rare that you can describe them accurately and definitively with absolutes. Therefore, to state or imply that EAC doesn't work with XP PRO and/or doesn't work well probably isn't accurate. A more accurate statement would be that you can't get it to work on *your* installation of XP PRO. (steps off soapbox) BT

Actually, a lot of those old classics are shown regularly on the cartoon network (looney tunes) and boomerang (George of the Jungle/Super Chicken, Pink Panther/AArdvark, Underdog, etc.). I get to watch a bunch now that I've got little kids. Well, I guess I could watch them before I had kids, but this is a good way to rationalize it.

I've used SpamWeasel before (from www.mailgate.com, I believe). It had some really strong points, like the ability to "write" or "code" rules. It had a language not unlike VB so you could do things like UCASE() RIGHT(), etc. That allowed you to filter out mail addresses that had more than 4 numbers in a row, for example. I'd need something like this at a minimum, and regular expressions would be incredible. On the downside, it made mail retrieval slow (but only after I upgraded from

Thanks a bunch Treetog! I actually sent him a message last time he did it and let him know that I'm not adverse to ports - I just want to be asked first and given credit for the original design. I guess he didn't like that idea We need a skinning 101 course with a section on porting etiquette!

That's going to make a lot of people (like me!) angry. That said, I understand what they're doing and why - it's analogous to WinCustomize ensuring that a small percentage of their visitors don't suck down a large percentage of the bandwidth. Ok, I ventured back into the DXScript world and am having a blast. I'm experienced in a few languages, including VB, so VBScript isn't very difficult to pick up. so far I've found most of what I need from MSDN, but thought that a good book might help speed things along. So, anyone have any good recommendations for a VBScript book? I'll browse Amazon's recommendations of course, but thought I might get some good suggestions here as well.
