Yeah, there's definitely something wrong with the way the AI addresses bounty in Diplomacy. You'd think they'd be putting bounty on neighbors and that when the Pirates are about to raid that everyone would be trying to get them to attack a neighbor based on their strategy at the time, but no it's usually just "put bounty on the non-AI player." I've just started playing with them off in Diplomacy, and depending on how the next couple games go I might just go back to playing Entrenc

I usually play Medium-Large (50ish planets) and with 6 Hard AIs. Does fleet size affect the bidding? I usually play Advent, and start 3 explorers and then 5 frigates and finally build a Mothership. After that I go planet hunting.
Been playing the 1.19a version (that's the latest one, right? I have Impulse set to try beta/alpha versions) and the Pirates are still a problem. Not so much the fleet size, though it still is rather big, but the bidding is just out of whack. I am the only one bid against. None of the AIs offer bounty on any other faction except mine, so every cycle it comes down to me and one AI trying to out-bid each other. The AIs need to figure out how to bid on other AIs.
Not too sure I'd like a new race added to Sins. I'd rather just see that Sins 2 is perfectly balanced between the 3, which they have come close to getting in this version. A campaign is something I'm in full support of, but, as others have pointed out elsewhere, a campaign that focuses more on giving the Sins universe some more background story rather than just training new players on the mechanics of the game. All the technical stuff, like hyperthreading and 64bit suppo
I've got a similar problem. Got the egg and the quest location marker is on the map (yellow hut), but when I go to it, nothing happens. It doesn't open up a dialogue box or anything to complete the quest.
Same here. Earth shard disappeared after conquering a the city that owned it...the shard being the only reason I wanted that city in the first place. :)
Had another crash, same game, many turns later. Pastebin Debug.err
Not sure what turn it was. Win 7 Pro, 4GB RAM, Radeon HD4850 Pastebin Debug.err
This is an annoying problem. Please fix it.
Still having this problem with the 1.06 update. Mouse is a Logitec M505 and the driver is 4.90.49.0 driver from Logitec. I have the taskbar on the left side of my screen, but I'm not going to change that. When I use the "use hardware mouse" option, it works fine for a while. But sometimes when I load the game up, then the mouse will select something a few centimeters from where the pointer is on the screen.
Have the same problem, here. Every time the game starts my mouse is stuck, all jittery, on the left side of the screen. If I tab out and then back in, things work fine from then. Still a pain, though.
Hello folks. Just thought I'd put in a suggestion to offer the manual for Elemental in .epub or .mobi formats for folks who would like to read it on their eReaders. I know it comes in .pdf form and most eReaders can read those, but the .pdf is rather complex (spiffy background and lots of pics) and kills my Nook. Tried converting the .pdf to .epub using Calibre, but that didn't work so well either. I figured that folks at Stardock have the original text files handy
Well, good to know that I maybe don't suck. ;) Will look for a mod and hope for some dev-love in the coming weeks.
Not only just the Pirate Missions. The Pirates seem to be overpowered in the early raids as well. I mean, I'm not the greatest Sins player out there--I usually play Medium-Large maps with 5 other AI players, 3 on hard. I can't even get out of the early game cause the Pirates are just killing me. Every raid they attack me, unless I spend tons of cash on the bounty war in the last couple second and then I'm hamstrung money-wise for the next 15 minutes and then have to
Hello, everyone. I'm mwdowns, and I'm a Stardock fanboy. Seriously, you guys rock. Played the original GalCiv way back when, and then this past year picked up GalCiv II, Sins, and Demigod and haven't been disappointed. Your customer support and interaction with the gaming community is second to none and that keeps me coming back for more (though cause I'm in Japan, I can't get Dragon Age: Origins...boo, EA!). Wish I would have gotten the survey, though I woul
Give dbpoweramp a try. Very easy to use. I use it all the time to rip and convert my CDs.
A question: what were you going to do once you conquered all your enemies and your friend stayed your friend all the way through? Turn on him/her? Good on the AI for getting the drop on ya, I say. ;)
I've been wanting to give online play a try, and JuleTron I'm in Japan so I'm near your timezone. I live on an isolated island in the Japanese archipeligo and I've been pushing for a couple of my friends to try out Sins so that we can play together. They both said that they're gonna try the demo out this week, so here's to hoping that maybe 2 or 3 players from JST will be joining up soon. :)
Hey guys. :) I saw mention by one of the more advanced players in another thread that they don't use fleets. And I thought about my own playing and thought gee, I only use fleets...maybe that's why I suck. :) So, my question is what should I be doing? I mean, I use fleets in order to group a cap ship or two with a variety of other support craft. I find it easier to move around the map that way. However, I am often annoyed by the little tics of fleet
Ah, I'm glad someone noticed this as well. I'm sure it's not the end of Sins, but it took the wind out of my sails hoping for a campaigns/story expansion. We'll see, though. Pre-ordered the Diplomacy expansion and am getting back into Entrenchment after a couple months vacation from the game. TEC and Vasari, prepare to feel my wrath! :D
Gah! I think I logged off right as you guys were starting up last night. Hopefully I'll catch ya tonight or this weekend. :)
Yeah, I can't say I'm too impressed with your forum implementation. Seems like it's a daily thing for me (in Japan, using Firefox) to have the various sections of the forums (Demigod and Sins) not load up. The main page will load, but if I try clicking on a sub-forum or a particular topic at the bottom of the screen, it won't load at all.
I like the ideas here. Gonna give it a try this evening.
Good to see this is still going on. I got in a couple games last night and had a good time, though my team-mates were the silent types. I'll be on the lookout for the #singapore channel and the singapore/asia games. Hopefully see you guys soon!
I'm interested to see what things you vets think the AI does that make it a joke. I mean, I've noticed stuff like strange build priorities (anearly-game Advent fleet with 2 Revelations as the only cap ships) or attacking the same place over and over again, rather than finding a weak-point to exploit. What other stuff have you noticed?
