Ever since I installed .302, the AI players have been attacking me incessantly without provocation. Is this behavior to be expected?

I have had several times the number of CTD in .302 than I have had in all the other Beta 1Z builds combined. ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 4/25/2010, 10:47:33 Machine name: BLUEBIRD Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3 (2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.091208-2036) &nb
I have seen the same behavior. .302 is the least stable for me that I have run yet. I got in on beta 1Z. I have had numerous CTD and a few lockups at world creation.

I loved the Mechwarrior 2 intro though, and it brought about the cinematic intros that all games have now (that you seem to despise, if I remember correctly).
Loved that one!!! Here is my vote for number 1! Fallout!!!! <p
Turn off Anti-Aliasing under video settings. This has helped a few people. See page two here: https://forums.elementalgame.com/379937/page/2

I have had the same issue. Save...exit...reload is the only way I was able to get around it.

Any idea how long after the beta is published before they process the new pre-orders? I'll be out of town all next week and would love to get some beta time in Friday and Saturday.
I'm curious as to when the beta will get released as well and when they process the new pre-orders.

For the big picture, yes, but when you go into details, it's hard to say whether you missed something to make it work or it's a plain bug.
That was the point of my original post.
In the age of digital distribution the best type of documentation is contextual tooltips and in-game encyclopedias (think the CIV 4 Civopedia for example) since many people aren't getting paper manuals. This also allows updates as things change. The problem is this takes a fair chunk of resources to write up and proof. That said I preordered the limited edition because I'm a total nerd that loves 200 page manuals.
Two reasons: 1. Most forum software is written in PHP/MySQL whereas we work with .NET and SQL Server. While there are forum packages out there written in .NET, they are generally either bloated due to
Yet another recent pre-orderer wondering if the beta will be opened up to new testers.
Are sieges included in the game? Under siege, a city would loose it's access to the "global food net" and start to have penalties, be they population decrease, efficiency decrease, something else or some of all. In the road thread the concept of fortifications came up. I could see using fortifications to help protect these pioneer units as well as caravans, provided the caravans aren't abstracted.
Have to reply since I can't subscribe to thread.

Never mind.
Interesting points. My biggest gripe with just about every TBS I have ever played is that the individual games (not titles) would either be too easy or too hard. The only notable exception to this rule has been GC2. Granted I have experienced this with GC2 as well, but I have had many more games that had a great balance between too easy or too hard. And there is always the issue of how much cheating (or bonuses) should the AI recie
Because it is home grown.
Yes. Possibly a small tower with defensive attributes a la the old Warlords TBS series.
we could just declare certain regions "Housing Districts" and the quality of the buildings would be dependant on the tech and local amenities like pubs, restaurants, etc, that are in proximity. We could even specify low and high density districts, or rich districts, which would receive various bonuses or penalties.
I like that idea. It would force you to balance, high-density, low cost, low inco
