question - there have been a few messages lately about copyright and the such, and i was wondering, ive got a skin i have done, using fgx from some console games collected from various websites, assuming that these images are copyrighted to the companies that created the games, would i legally be able to submit the skin for distribution, or is it best left for my own use only? - I need to know so I can submit it here or not.

thanks guys, as you can see, im not much of a designer, i havent the experience or the skill, but i do like skins to be simple, i dont like having to look for buttons or anything like that.
i mean why done microsoft <- see with an S, create some alternate shells so we can choose from a range when we first instal windows. like with most distributions of linux.
I dont know how Micro$oft feels about rival shells running on top of windows instead of explorer, but why dont MS have a range of shells, so the user can choose how they want windows to look, instead of being stuck with that damn startbar? if anything it might just make windows users a little happier.
in the past , I have came to notice that such terms as Expert, are completely relative, mostly to the person asking the question, eg if say the average guy in the street, says to me 'Are you a computer expert' I would have to say 'depends what you mean by that', but compered that guy, probebly yes, but say Mr Gates, asks me the same question, I would be forced to say no. So my answer to the question am I an expert, I will have to say - umm I dunno (doing best Homer Simpson impression).
1)why do some skins get downloaded more than others? - why are they better? 2) whats wrong or right about my skins (wb and ob - search under 'spinal')?
quick question here, but what are peoples favorite skins (windowblinds and objectbar) what do people use the mose, and what combinations look good? at the moment, im using an unfinished wb skin that im working on , and magic amiga workbench ob bar.
talking of gooey, ive got a wb skin called just that.
I dont get it, as far as i can tell, ecks-bocks is just a pc looking like a console, dont at least 50% of pc users only play games in the first place? sinse its a micro$oft product, ita has to be (at lease indirectly) compatible with windows, so an emulator cant be far away, so why buy a second pc just to play games?
oh, and why not have the patches all seperate, catagorised by some sort of grouping, taskbars, startmenu's etc, but instead of having the specifically for a certain skin, just have a comment, saying that it is recomende for use with a skin, no specifics involved, then permissions would be less of a problem.
I think the idea of patching skins is a fine one, its an idea that has been batted around messageboards for a while now, first of all, who can claim they have never updated a skin for their own use, eg added a start bar/menu, changed the colours etc. so why not make these updates available for everyone? as for defaults, I personally think, that by default a skin should be patchable, cos I would love people to patch skins I create, I cant think why anyone would mind. It should be left up to those
bmps seem to load quicker, but jpg are smaller (usually), depends what you want, fast or small.
Quick one here, what is the secret of a good skin or theme? Im planning on making the best skin ever, and am wondering what features people want or dont want in a windowblinds skin. C:>_
but I want people to have the calander to!
no, you missunderstand, my desktop wallpaper, is a jpg, yes, but i have it in an HTML file, so that I can overlay a calander in the bottom right corner.
Can anyone tell me, if I can can submit an HTML wallpaper here? Ive got a good one, the will they let me, as its not just a bmp/jpg??
oh very helpful bump
er...Thankyou?
the shareware lets you add other themes till your 30days are up, then will only let you use the plain (mac and windows) skins that come with it after your 30days, not forgetting you need to click the register later button everytime it starts.
Im currently thinking of making a texturizer for themes, i reckon being able to exturize other ppls themes -for personal use- would be a good idea, what do you think?
has anyone converted themes from mac ones, cos I dont know how OD works and want to recreate the fire theme for mac, i ripped the images, but putting them together was harder than i thought, I havent a clue how the code works, so I just ended up with a blury mess Is anyone able to help, - This is the sort of thing that would go good in a tutorial section on this site!
Iasked about this a while ago, a bunch of stuff was said adout people thinking about it, but nothin was said after that, a ideas of when or anything. - Heres a tip for windowblinds - Scrollbars always scroll all of the way to the end, so if you want a border around your scrollbar, instead of putting it in the frame, put the edges of it in the scrool buttons instead.
can anyone tel me how to set the rollup height of a window?
thanx!
is it windoblinds where you can set how far a window goes off each end of the screen when you max it? I want the skin im creatinf not to overlap the edges of the screen when the windows are maximized. Can I do this?
