I would say that instead of having to micro the building, maintaining, and defending of caravans, we simply take out the idea that we need specific units for them to begin with. As you said, the idea isn't to mimic what's going on, but make it a dynamic system. So routes are first build by caravans and then the benefits 'just happen' over time. Monsters can essentially siege routes as cities can be sieged and this reduces the benefits
Merry Christmas to team Stardock and families, to the community and everyone else, who may or may not, read this boards.
Wyh are you limiting yourself to one spell? I agree with TheProgress.
Too early, dammit. Vacation starts NEXT week, not this one. [e digicons]#:([/e] You really know how to piss off your customers.[e digicons]:moo:[/e] *jk*
What does this have to do with 1.1? I haven't played the betas. The only thing I noticed is that shards now generate mana. Is that all 1.1 has to offer?
They also patched in a whole lot of 'fun'. You need to play it, it is much better now.
A fun read. Thank you Wintersong.
Yes, why would ordinary units have so much magical resistance, especially when the high level offensive spells cost so much mana? I'd much rather resistance be a special ability that only applies to certain monsters or at least only apply to regular troops at a much slower rate than currently. What do others think? Best regards, Steven.
Some dev (cant remember which) said resists arent final and
Quoting Archonsod, ... 1. Such as? I call out bullshit when I see it. Like most of your post, really. 2. Because they are fun. Because they make players feel like the characters they're supposed to be (powerful wizards and gods warring over the world respectively). Because they have ridiculously high replay value despite their "many flaws". 3. lol. "IT'S A BETA HONEST THAT'S WHY IT'S BEEN RELEASE
Worthplaying has a preview and some screenies for those who are interested.
Yes MoM was great, i agree. But it had a buttload of flaws. My problem is that every single one of those who post of how great MoM was never tell us anything new. At all. I just think the devs know by now how cool MoM was, really, they got it by now. Even the guy who wrote Fences must be thinking about a MoM mod for it. The next window blind comes in nature or chaos flavor with little trees and fireballs. And the next animated desktop loads MoM and play an Ai vs. Ai match on your desk
My disagreement is based on 1. You behaving bad and making group attacks to all who simply disagree with you. [e digicons][/e] 2. You basing your opinion on MoM and Dominion 3, who despite being good games, had so many flaws i dont know why they are so hyped. 3. You bashing a beta release where the devs clearly stated magic is still in the works. And as little special for you, just because i can use capslock, too: IF YOU WANT TO PLAY F***ING
OMG if i read one more post with the same old MoM shit like the 1000 posts before i am going to flame so hard the internt shuts down from overheating. [e digicons]>:([/e] If they would at least label the threads with 'Same old MoM is the greatest thing since the invention of boobs' i could evade them, but noooo of course not ... [e digicons]#:([/e]
I don't think it's possible to make them more rare. Any more rare and they'd be mythological.
Like horses?
Slow? Thats strange, i get very high download rates with impulse. Much better then GG, or Steam. You dont have to run Impulse while playing, so its just running when you want to update.
Thank you for the insight into your work. I like this kind of DevJournal very much. Keep it up. [e digicons][/e]
I for one welcome our new overlord. Hail to the King!
... I think if a player has only the option to turn one resource into one other resource such system makes a game only more complicated, but not more interesting. If a player could turn one resource into different resources it would be interesting.
This.
Just to see if they could. It was a bet between Gates and Jobs to see who could destroy more PC market share in a 10 years time. Bill brought the X-Box and Steve the iPod/Phone/Pad with all the apps so no one needs a PC anymore.
version 1.1 is supposed to come out BEFORE Kael gets there, that was supposed to be the transition version. Version 1.1 is "supposed" to be out by the end of the month, but we will wait and see.
IIRC it was changed to BETA start in the first November week to give Kael some insight into how Stardock works.
Cruxador made the posti was going to make. Thanks for saving me some work :) So, i hope you upgraded the engine. Its an ability that just invaluable going forward.
Is it just me, or is Mr. Paxton looking like a younger version of Brad Wardell. [e digicons]:moo:[/e] Thats creepy. [e digicons]8|[/e] Welcome Mr. Paxton.
The game ( aka unfinished product ) is still expensive . Reduce the price at least 25% .
This would maybe a good suggestion if it came after 1.1 or 1.3 (bug fixes to 1.1). At this point in time and development it would be just stupid for marketing reasons alone. I dont think Stardock is stupid, sometimes a bit overconfident, but not stupid.
Looks like some awesome game changers are coming in. Can't wait. *starts to train his cat to hit refresh every 5 seconds*
Quoting kryo, reply 58 I was thinking something a bit lazier like a scouting pack that lets a unit go through tiles belonging to another player. Be heavily exploited though if it weren't mutually exclusive with weapons. Yea, that's the trick. How do we justify a pack keeping a player from having weapons? The unit design has definitely been a challenge because realistically, t
