I dont understand that 66.93 driver should work, since it worked on my old 420 go and you have a same series card it should work for all geforce 4 go's. Is the driver installed and working or is it just not running GC2, because if it is the latter then its game over. Make sure youve uninstalled the old driver, check in the display properties>settings>advanced>Geforce 460 go>Adapter>properties>Driver, then find out what driver version is installed, if it still says the old one then 66.
6600 GT's are a very solid choice if you dont want bleeding edge graphics and will probably be able to play the most modern games up untill the end of 2006 quite well, £60-100 depending on the variant you get. I cant see if youll require an AGP or PCI-E graphics card, youll have to check that out for yourself. Its prob AGP though judging from some of the dates on your drivers.

Since nvidia drivers are unified, backwards compatability and all that, probably wont work though. And dont get too hooked up on the make/model of the laptop when looking for drivers concentrate on the card.
