Maybe I'm just bad at the game, but I've been playing non-stop since the beta was released, and I haven't felt that my heroes are overpowered at the beginning/mid game. They seem awfully squishy to me and I feel like I have to work to get them to the point where they can survive and contribute offensively.

As stated in the title, many of the "good chests" in the Arctic Wasteland special area are empty. This has been the case in 2 different games. My champions are sad and confused when they go to a goodie hut and nothing is there. They curse me and call me names for my poor leadership. It's quite disheartening. On the other hand, beating the big bad there and getting that Mantle of Winter spell is uber-awesome.
I just wanted to chime in from the other side of the argument and state that I really enjoy heroes as is. The joy of getting a hero to the point where he can solo big-monster armies and watch them lay waste to stuff is magnificent. I also think that adding permdeath to heroes is just going to encourage save/reload. I think the mechanic they put in place was put there because save/reload is a part of 4X games, so they wanted there to be a consequence for failure, but not one so onerou
You have to manually check each hero and see if their list of spells is "greyed out" or not. Also, you can waste your mana by imbuing an already imbued hero, a bug that, hopefully, will be corrected.
I'm hundreds of turns into the game and my combats have grown increasingly unstable. I actually have one hero who crashes the game every time she tries to attack. I eventually had to send her to a city for fear that I'd accidentally have her try and attack. A different situation: I'm trying to fight this giant bear without using auto-combat so I don't waste a bunch of mana, but every time the bear attacks the game crashes. I also am not getting c
This may seem like a stupid question, but I can't figure out how to build more cities. I send out pioneers and they build outposts, but those outposts don't ever turn into cities and I don't see an option for building a city anyplace.

The Temple of Essence description states that it increases the essence of your units by 25%. As of the 1.06 hotfix patch, it provides no bonus.
After the latest 1.06 patch + hotfix, non-sovereign channeler's teleport spell is broken. They cast it, you get the graphic on the tile you picked, it debits them 5 mana, and then nobody moves.
Can anyone help with my technology question for what unlocks the ability to have more caravans?
[quote who="spider1110" reply="110" id="2729903"] Quoting malichai11, reply 109How do you create more Caravans? I know there is a technology that allows you to do so, Merchant Guilds or something like that, I had it in a previous game. It hasn't shown up in this game though, and I don't remember whether it's part of Diplomacy or Civilization. if you have the technology then you can recruit them from any city just like other units. there is a limit per city though.
Hero #1 got the Sagog Dragon Egg Quest Hero #2 was close to the target for this quest, so walked over, fought the big fight, and completed the quest. Hero #2 then went back to the quest giver, and the dragon happily thanked him for returning her egg and said she'd now join us. She didn't join us. She didn't show up on the map anywhere. She didn't show up with Hero #2, or Hero #1. Which is a bummer, I was all excited about getting my first dragon.

And adding to the list of questions: If there are no shards around your starting location, does that mean there will never be any? Are there future techs that you learn that "unlock" and show you shards that have been around all the time? I'm trying to figure out how important one's starting location is.
Thanks Zorbane, I found it once you said the part about the vertical scroll bar. Alright, another newbie question: Are caravans of any use just inside your kingdom, or only for trading with other kingdoms? Can you automate them? Do you have to actively run each caravan?
Is there some way to force the game to enter tactical combat mode? I want to use the tactical mode to fight the bears and wolfs to start off with, but I'm not given an option.
I've imbued a number of champions with essence. I have this big super-stack of 5 or so channelers, including my main dude. All of them have access to teleport, but the only one that can successfully cast it is my main dude. Is this a bug or a feature? When my other guys cast it, I get the pre-teleport graphic on the tile I pick, but then the stack doesn't show up (and the caster isn't charged the mana). I'm having the same problems with the "notable location level." This level isn't l
