On a related note, is it possible to make a custom sovereign with Procipinee's Crown? I didn't see it anywhere, but I may have overlooked it. That would be one option - give the pre-built sovereigns some unique gear that fits with the lore. My custom sovereign can't have Procipinee's Crown because, well, he's not Procipinee. :)
Quoting mfrast, reply 44How about a random event where one of yours or the AI army (or hero) defects from one side to the other while your at war. That could really get you pissed off. I'm not opposed to events based on power levels but this one is very very bad for this game. Yes, it would tick the player off when their champions desert for no real reason. With a loyalty mechanic which can be controlled sur
I'm with Heavenfall on this. Making creatures randomly appear out of nowhere to wail on the player just because he's winning is a big turnoff for me. I'm okay with the other players getting together to oppose the leading player (whether AI or human), as that's occurring within the game rules, and is a natural aspect of how they should be playing anyway. That said, it shouldn't be that all players suddenly go after the leader. The leader sho
I can't see Steam players having a bad reaction to what is clearly labeled as pre-release beta builds. Besides, the game is already enjoyable. Prior to this announcement, it was already the case that anyone who pre-ordered got access. This is nothing new, just another route for pre-ordering.
We’ve tweaked the pioneering system to encourage more thoughtful expansion
Any hints on what was changed, apart from road-building? :)
By the way, in my own playing around I've figured out why the AI only moves one square in tactical combat some times (apologies if you figured this out in the later videos, I haven't watched the last two yet). The AI clearly wants to get in the first attack. If it can move further than your units, it will inch up towards you one space at a time until on the next move it can reach you, but you can't reach it. That way, it gets in the first hit. As awesome as always, Das!

Yeah, I have to strongly disagree with calling Raise Land, Lower Land, and Curgen's Volcano overpriced. They're massively underpriced IMHO, and getting the first two right at the start doesn't make much sense to me. Let's see, when I'm a newbie little wizard, I can Cause one little schmuck to regenerate 1 hp extra per season, or Cause another little schmuck's sword to sprout flames, or Level entire mountain rang
I like ponies. (They're delicious!)
Yeah, I can't say I've played on the higher difficulty settings. Maybe that's the difference.
Never realized that it was made by a single guy. I can only speak to my own personal experience with the game, not that of others. For me, it's a truly remarkable game, and my favourite space 4X since MoO2. That's all the more impressive when you consider that it's made by one person. I can't say I've ever seen the issue you describe. Quite the opposite in fact - the private sector produces too much money, and resource availability is never a strategic concern because too much of everything gets p
Eh? That's news to me. I've been enjoying it since Legends came out last November.
Just FYI, Distant Worlds and its expansions are currently 33% off. If you've wanted to dive in but have been put off by the hefty price tag, it'll be a little less hefty for the next two weeks. Distant Worlds Sale
Yes, FE needs to steal the idea of Civ5, where the Next Turn button isn't even there until you've made all the decisions you need to make. It gets replaced with a button that addresses the next decision pending. And yes, "Idle" should be a specific thing you have to set the city to, and it should show what bonuses you will get at that city if you choose it.
Paradox says they've learned from the massive success of Crusader Kings 2 - not just in terms of polishing the game before releasing it, but also giving the game more character. I love EU3, but I have to admit it can be a little dry. Diplomatically, I feel like I'm dealing with faceless distant entities, not the rulers of nations. - Take your own decisions: Nation building is flexible: decide your own form of government, the structure of your so
In any game like this, I always play on the largest map with the most players. I've always enjoyed massive, sprawling games.
Pre-occupation with graphics is what's almost killed TBS. If only Endless Space had gameplay as good as its graphics. I'll take Distant Worlds and its 2D sprites over it any day. Fallen Enchantress' graphics are just fine.
Brad, you have a very loud mouse click. It's loud enough to have an echo! [e digicons][/e]

As a followup to Orion's post, an AAR in the context of a strategy game is where you play through it once, and write up what happened, what you were doing at each stage, post pics along the way, etc. Edit: Here is an example of an AAR for Crusader Kings 2.
