OK, but then why aren't frigates adn cruisers in those tables, only cap ships, bombers, and fighters?

Actually I never mentioned which games I had tried, that was someone else. I don't often feel stupid. Or silly.
Again, why would Sins be the only game having issues when I've run other games/programs that are much more graphically complex/intensive on both my CPU and GPU hardware? Because simply because something is more "graphically complex/intensive" doesn't mean it strains the system in the same way. Sins could be calling an obscure graphics function that other games don't, for example. And while I haven't played several of the other games you mentioned,
There is a large whiteboard in the room that has a big picture of a network of the relationship between each ship type that we all refer to while playing. It isn't a simple rock/paper/scissors diagram. Each ship is better/worse against other types of ships based on a number of factors including cost to counterability ratio, weapons, armor, abilities, research etc. Also, each ship is designed to be useful at all stages of the game, although their ro
Anyone read David Webers Harrington series? Well however, id like to see some kind of "forts" combining strike craft hangars and weaponry. The ONLY way that could work would be some rather obscene tactical slot pricing. That said, I LIKE the idea Or just drop the strike-fighters and having something reasonably well balanced <img src="http://images.sta
Purty much bane.
* Are there plans to create alternate factions with their own building/ship sets (other than "TDN/TEC")? There's already two other races--Advent and Vasari--they're just not in the public beta. It hasn't been determined if they'll be added in later phases or not before release. I certainly hope you release them to us pre-release, if only for balance testing!
Id love to see an auto-dock feature for the carriers so the whole area doesnt get cluttered with fighters, and it adds a little more plausibility to carriers...not to mention how its kinda not right how i see them kinda teleport out with the carriers when they jump out during a fight...they should start the docking a lot earlier Fighters do begin to autodock as soon as you give their carrier a jump order, A
when will the next beta 2 patch come out? It hasn't been announced yet. Well... announce it already.
Maybe a researchable "upgrade" to gauss cannons -- something like a "battle platform", with shields and weapons and a really nasty punch? (replacement building, not upgrade tot he unit itself)
First off, why are you guys assuming that I'm asking for a formation control of some kind? I'm referring to the automatic "all-in-a-line" formation that the game already has in it, which is less-than-optimal when a REALLY large fleet lines up to jump in / out. You end up with half the line outside the star, and still "clearing orbit", while the other half is inside. And the half inside ends up jumping from inside the grav well, because the formation "as a whole" isn't clear. From what I can
Force by price, upkeep and vunerability... I don't think this can be regarded as a "hardlimit" of any kind. It's a gameplay "limit". The "manipulating game mechanics" - as you put it - means exactly the same IMO. Sorry, I saw the word "force" and I guess I panicked Not really the way I'd usually use the word "forced"... after all, I can still go all-capship, i
O.o WTF do some of those areas mean? CAPITALABILITY? Anti-very-heavy?
Lordkosc, thats in the next patch... whenever that comes out
I think I've had it happen while I'm not in combat. Not 100% sure about that though. (And even if I'm in combat, usually I'm not taking losses at this point... very poor AI for late-game, it stops building fleets that challenge me in favor of useless penny-packets). Edit: N/m that, just realized the enemy was probably raiding my civvy ships that keep on running through the central star. I keep meaning to station a carrier squad there just to prevent that, but... ./shrug
I'm noticing some very strange bounty reports, wherein the price increases by a much larger amount than the total comes out to... Anyone else seeing this?
FYI, atm fighter squads do prioritize other fighters, and bomber squads will prioritize cap ships rather than their own fighters. Its too bad they named interceptors "Fighter Squads" instead of "Interceptor Squads" or something like that, having to add squad to everything gets a bit wordy at times.
I can't edit the original post, but I nearly forgot. You also have a problem with large groups having singletons not waiting for the group, causing them to jump in ahead of the "main fleet"... with unfortunate results. And since very large games (once systems can support say 10+ stars?) will involve very large fleets, this issue will probably come into play at some point (other than artificially).
When jumping as a group, for the most part the game is reasonable enough. However, if you build up a large enough group (especially of capships) you can have some ships waaaay out of the gravity well that are still labeled as "clearing orbit". While I understand that they need to have the entire formation clear, some (better) approach should be found. (Especially since the reverse can be a huge problem when entering a system). Anyone have any ideas?
They are sissy's, the only civilization in the galaxy that has to ally to survive. Pathetic in my opinion. Your opinion is irrelevant. Unless its on the Kol's... "sissyness"
Odly Zimat, I saw the AI attack with flagship + support ships, and pull out ONLY the flagship when the time came (leaving the rest to cover the retreat of the flagship). It was slow on the draw -- another couple hundred HP and it would have been gone -- but it did pull it out. If it hadn't been for the fact that I needed my defenses to match it with my fleet (and therefore would have been helpless against HIS defenses), I might have tried pursuing it.
Do NOT use windex (or any other glass cleaner!) on an LCD monitor! You can destroy the plastics involved in LCD monitors. Edit: And yes, I know it was meant as a joke, but some people have tried that before after similar jokes
I take it this means that Stardock isn't going with GalCiv's "however many computers you want" (and totally copy protection free) approach?
good point. Thank you, I was unaware that gfx ram counted toward the cap Neither was I until someone else pointed it out to me I still don't 100% understand how the cap works, but I do know its a PITA. ATM, most people aren't going to be bumping into it very much, but as tech increases soon its going to be a real headache. Thats why I'm planning
3. When I have a cease fire teaty, the AI tell me to "come out from the shadows and fight them" surely if we have a trade alliance, intelligence sharing, artifact sharing and cease fire, why would he want to fight with me? Whenever the AI gets a bounty, he spams that to all players -- because even he has no clue who's doing it. A kinda silly idea, but I expect that the dev's will get around to taking the general concept and making it something cool
