looks neat. it's a bit puzzling that something being presented as a fit for strategy or RPG games only solves a problem which would make the games less about strategy or role-playing... it's like saying Total War is a better strategy game if you have to control 10 times as many units in a battle.
It is very sad, that important parts of the game like additional items, spells and quests will be sold as DLCs. I guess that the DLCs are the reason why not many new items, spells and quests have been included in LH. I thought that Stardock was one of the few developers who sells complete games, but i was wrong.
Please tell me you were joking here. </

Let's put together a list of websites that are discussing the game. After the negative reviews WOM got, I bet a lot of people are on the fence and could be helped by actual players telling them their experiences. Here's some of the sites I lurk on. Please add yours. Of those, I've only played Torchlight 2 and XCOM. It's so hard to judge FE to those games because they're so different. I do remember Civilization V got scores like 90 and FE is better. I hate guessing but it shouldn't get anything lower than an 85. So I'll say 87 only because the reviewers these days tend to be kids looking for explosions and won't appreciate the vast amount of hours one can get out of this game.
Yet if you define "modern" as games that are only a year old, there are more than a dozen strategy games you missed that are published by Shrapnel Games, and other companies like it. And that should also include Paradox's Crusader Kings II, East vs West, and Sengoku, all of which are roughly a year old or less. If you meant to ask, "Is FE the best strategy game of the last year?" they all fit the conditions you set.&nb

AI coding is a very specialized skill set. What was the last game with GOOD AI that you've played? You make an interesting post but calling out Brad is exactly the reason his participation has been waning. Most of the things you mention are due to the values in the game's XML. I suspect one of the modders can verify this. You don't think the game hard codes what spells it should cast when do you? It's a good post but the editorial is off putting.<
There is a post on the Warlock forum in steam that is knocking E:FE. "I've played Warlock - it's excellent. I've played the first Elemental. It was one of the dullest things I've ever done. I've yet to play Fallen Enchantress so it's impossible to reach any conclusion but the odds sure favour Warlock at the moment. I shall revisit this question when/if Stardock release a demo. I sur

This is looking a lot more promising than War of Magic. I really had high hopes for Elemental but always thought they weren't giving it enough time to bake. The final game felt half baked to me. It looks to me that they're doing things right this time.
It's already 'out there' in the form of the gradualy improving betas. If your reasoning is merely to have something better than the previous release version, then use the beta - there is no advantage to 'being patient' and not playing the beta.. If you find the current beta version too raw, then guess what your 1.1 is going to be no matter what it's called? Changing the name of .9x 'beta' to 1.1 'released' is not going to mir

It's time to put this out there. Some of us haven't been part of the beta and have been patiently waiting for over 2 months for an update. Hearing people say it should be delayed because text changes should be made makes my blood boil. The only question you people should be asking yourselves is this: Is it better than what's out there for us now. If the answer is yes then it would be inexcusable to make your fans, like me, wait through Christmas. My Christmas break is wh

I'm pissed off. How could both Stardock and Firaxis fuck up a sure thing like this? Civ V is pretty but devoid of depth. It leads you by the nose whether you want it to or not. Elemental is pretty but devoid of depth. It dumps you in a world with no idea what to do. In the long run, I think Elemental will be my favorite because Stardock is more likely than Firaxis to make that changes needed to make their game a classic.

If you liked the book you might want to review it on Amazon . I don't know if any of you saw that earlier thread but a bunch of the lunatics at Quarter to Three.com who stalk Brad around the Internet got together to trash the book and harass people who gave it positive reviews.

I agree that Elemental had more problems out of the box than Civ V had. But Elemental didn't average 9 out of 10. I can't even Alt-Tab out of Civ V and units stutter like crazy. I have also yet to complete a game of Civ V without it crashing at least twice. If you want to talk about white washing, talk about the press that gave Civ V a pass on things that they knocked Elemental on. Elemental was atrocious on release and it paid for it in reviews. Civ V got a pass. And don't get me sta

The site that has previously enjoyed her other reviews and where several people know her personally.
