Recently on a visit to our public library in the new book section, an attention-grabbing title, “The Book Against God,” caught my eye. Always I have this need to have on hand a book that will challenge my thinking, entertain, and/or awe me with its literary style. After scanning just the first chapter, I was hooked as it definitely contained all three of

I was nearly in tears by the time I got to the last line. I was ready to start passing the hat to help you off the street. Then you gave me the best laugh of the day.

greywar, I agree with xtine's critique of your format. I have noticed it off and on. Move is going nicely. xtine is coming to pick up memorabilia for K. Besides that I have a lot of great stuff for a yard sale. Between busy days of moving, I have been reading all your blogs, many of the links and getting a greater understanding of the problems of the Middle East. Many, many year

In the summer of ‘44, I went to help my oldest sister Aggie who lived in Minneapolis. I was thrilled to be going to the big city and to be with my sister whom I barely knew. During my stay with my sister in Minneapolis, my horizons widened just a bit. I met new people and took in some activities that I would not have experienced in Verona. Aggie’s sons wer

The food from Jason's Deli could not compare to the treat we had at that Korean place you took us to. That was really a unique experience. Answer your e-mail, son.

SSG Geezer recommended General Tommy Franks’ book, “American Soldier”, as a good read about a great American hero. How right he was! I didn’t read the book. I listened to the 5 CDs, an abridgement narrated by Tommy himself, as we have traveled through 17 states, covering 4400 miles. We could listen and still enjoy the wonderful scenery as we covered the mi

Oh there are tears in my eyes as I know what a good mama you are and what a beautiful girl your daughter has become. You can only do so much and then trust that no great evil persons will come her way to destroy that beauty of soul and mind. Keep up the good work!

Hi greywar, I tried to call you after getting back to our motel last night but you probably had the vacuum cleaner roaring. We are still 100 miles from Killeen. We checked motels online and my, my most of the moderate priced motels were all full but we did get one reserved in Killeen at Holiday Express for Friday, Sat and Sun. We will call when we get settled in. The call will com

Just a short note to tell those interested that my SO and I are on a trip hither and yon, visiting relatives, sight seeing and loving the wonderful scenes along the way. We have such a beautiful country. Heading for TX to see if we can catch a glimpse of greywar before heading back to MN. Take care all and thanks for your interest. I will continue my saga around mid

SSGGeezer...So you know about Valley City...I will have a few stories about that place. Are you in TX now? We are heading that way to see greywar.

Thanks son. Are you ready for a surprise? We will be leaving GA tomorrow. Guess where we are heading?.... We are coming to see you!!! I know that you are very busy with your work but even if we can take you out to dinner some evening, that will make you mama happy. Maybe you will get a little time over Labor Day weekend. I will let you know. We will be heading for GA on Monday so will have time to listen to a great deal of it. My SO and I will be listening to it. I usually read as he drives but I have a slight cold so it will be pleasant to listen rather than read.

Went to Barnes & Noble today, 8/18/04, in Indianapolis. Found the book, American Soldier. Read a couple of chapters. Liked it so instead of buying the book, I bought it on CD so we could listen to it as we travel along. It should make the miles fly by. Thanks for the idea.

SSG Geezer. Elementry teaching was where I worked most of my life. In the early days of teachng, we taught everything, sometimes having three grades in one room. I have read a lot and love words and appreciate their power. I don't come close to greywar with his copious vocabulary and his voracious appetite for learning. Thanks for your interest. I meant to answer this sooner but time seems to slip away faster and faster these days.

The need for an unrestricted contact with my teenaged beau was prompted not because we had planned to write love letters steaming with lewd desires, (We wouldn’t have even know how to write such letters) but simply from aspiring for freedom of expression without the nuns nitpicking our every word. Even as I began to plot my rebellion, following the

Keep looking! You can do better than that. I think it is great that you are cautious but sometimes you just need to take that leap of faith. In the meantime, CYA but don't ask him unecessary questions. Trust your own judgement.

Thanks for your encouragement SSG Geezer. Do you not have your own blog? I went looking for it. Could not find. Thanks to you too, mignuma. Your blog are interesting also. I will read more when I get the time. I am retired but there is still too much to do and so little time. Maybe I am just getting slower.
