I've played FFH2 a ... 'bit' and there's a lot of good imagination and imagery there; he should be able to make some interesting changes. [/quote] Oh I'll still be around making journals and such. It'll be much more of what my role was like on GalCiv II and Sins.

Between Elemental and Civ5, I am going to start waiting about 3 months before I buy a new strategy game. I can see myself switching between the two as each one gets patched... Yeah seriously. I'm getting to the point where buying games at full price is only for suckers. Give me a sale six months after release and an already

Thanks guys. We're glad you like it. We're chomping at the bit to show you some of the things we've been working on that we think will make it a lot better still. There's been some phenomenal feedback from players such as yourselves that have made us think of things (example: breaking quests into components that can be mixed and matched together so you end up with an infinite diversity of quests that also makes it easier for users to submit their own quests "components".</

Do you use a multi-threading framework like openmp, tbb or something similar ? What do you suggest to use ? I would be thankful for any advice. Thanks in advance if you will take the time to answer this off-topic question. Greetings

As long as you've opened up Impulse at some point with Elemental in there you're fine. The point is that as long as there is some entry somewhere showing you bought Elemental prior to October 31. In a pinch, a store receipt would do the trick but that would require manual (i.e. talk to a human) intervention.

There will be a lot more religious aspects discussed in the upcoming expansion packs. Thus far, we have really only touched on the worship of The Destiny which is largely a western Kingdom based religion. The Fallen and other Eastern peoples have a different perspective. It would be dangerous to assume that Men = Good and Fallen = Evil. This will become more obvious as we go forward.

Current update is for the v1.1 beta to be made available to the public in the next week or so. Right now, with Kael having just started, we're working on transitioning day to day management from myself to him.

I don't think most people realize that Kael's strength isn't just that he's a great designer but he's a veteran project manager. The single must challenging thing during Elemental's later development stages was when I had to take over last Spring as Producer, I still had a company to run and so I couldn't focus full time on managing the project (at the time, I thought I could just add 45 hours to my weekly schedule but that had unintended consequences in itself).

I'm complaining. We need some v1.1 changes for it to work. Here's why: Right now, there's no sense of urgency when playing. You can sit back and wail on the turn button. In v1.1, we have some systems that don't give bonuses to players who just sit around.

Welcome back guys! We're glad you're here. I don't know about you guys but for me, half the point of these games is the community experience. That was what kept drawing me back to Galactic Civilizations. When you buy a Stardock game, you're not buying a disposable commodity. It's something that we hope people will want to play for years and years to come.

As long as you downloaded an update at some point prior to October 31, 2010 you're set. Right now, everyone who buys as of November 1st 2010 still gets the first expansion pack we're working on for free. These expansion packs are more akin to GalCiv II level expansions (they're not micro expansions).

I think most people know which "camp" I was in back in the day. I liked the idea of managing resources -- turning something into another and working out the logistics. But I'm in a tiny minority on that feeling. But I do like the idea of letting modders eventually changing things a lot.

The first public beta is scheduled for this next Thursday. Right now, the team is split fairly evenly between v1.1 and the first expansion pack (free for those of you who have the game already). There are, ironically, more people on Elemental now than there were during development (part of this is the elimination of the second games team). It's going to be an awesome upcoming year. We, and by we I mean us all - the community and Stardock - are going to do something

Yea me too. Once the v1.1 series gets rolling, we hope to return to that. The main thing is that v1.1 is such a major overhaul of the game mechanics that there's no "baby steps" possible between v1.09 and v1.1.

I like Population as a resource but I do not like the fact that you are showing population in such small numbers I liked seeing my total population in the thousands, it adds to the atmosphere of my civilization. If you are just going to have population as a resource and make it small numbers that part will be ruined Unless I am misunderstanding things it looks like population will be represented as ju
