Sorry Frogboy, but you're wrong. We are hyper-entitled demandobots. And We Are Coming.
Well let me address that: First, there are 3 reinforced concrete walls with barbed wire. Then, the demandobot trench is filled with oil and, more importantly, anti-ACNE cream. We have 4 machine gun nests around the parameter and even after all that, the bunker is deep. Deep deep deep. We

I'm going to try to remind myself that most PC gamers are not hyper-entitled demandobots as I write this. :) First, the AI in Elemental has been worked on a lot this past month. That is what Charles is working on. Secondly, if you are beating the AI on ridiculous then you are almost certainly leveraging some hole in the AI's logic path. If you want this addressed, I suggest creating a post like "AI Suggestions". I feel pretty good about where the strategic AI is in terms of ho
Greetings! I'm going to put together a better preview soon but v1.2 is supposed to go into beta tomorrow. I can tell you, I think people are going to be pretty happy. While v1.1 had a huge change log, v1.2 has a huge one too but in less obvious ways than v1.1. Here are some of the things i've been noticing: 1. The memory usage is dramatically lower. Hopefully, users who run out of memory will be far fewer than in previous versions. This
I am feeling the same way about city placement. It's elusive indeed. The beauty of say Civilization is that every tile in the game potentially has use. In Elemental, a tile is basically generic unless it has a resource on it.
Right now, personally speaking, the most glaring issues I have with War of Magic are the diplomacy AI and the tactical battles. They're both being worked on of course but those are the things I have a serious pet peeve with. But as others have mentioned, in any of these games, players will always find some cheese way to win. Let's face it, MOM's AI was pretty brain dead. People have this happy memory of MOM but it took a year for the game to be really playable -- the AI di
Quoting Frogboy, reply 4 To fun to me would be better AI in War of Magic, much better diplomacy, better UI, more quests and better tactical battles. Beyond that it's a matter of whether the game is for you or not. Those all sounds great. When will these be up to your liking in Elemental?
Probably never. I still don't like GalCiv in any of those areas.
There's people who don't find Sins of a Solar Empire or GalCiv fun. In fact, on other forums, I am constantly reading how people don't like those games. So you never know, it's always possible that Elemental isn't the game for you. I will admit that the Fallen Enchantress design is probably better than the War of Magic design for most people. But what I find "fun" is very different from normal people. To fun to me would be better AI in War of Magic, much better d
Thanks! Me and a few of the forum regulars have been putting together games like this that show how things can get OOM. Jesse has been re-doing how textures are stored which will go into v1.2. It will be interesting to see if this addresses it. The 1.19 beta goes up this week (and realistically, Derek's betas are very solid, they're not like my betas).
I'm thinking it's the video card. I think a Geforce 6800 is the minimum needed. Thats aid, the rebooting means there's something really really bad with your hardware going on. Your drivers look okay to me. What OS is that?
Nesrie, it's time for you to find another forum to rage on. You've worn out your welcome here.
Thats all fine and dandy. But, it doesn`t change a thing. Brad, did you even play the game before it was release ? Freebird out.
Every day for hours on end.
BTW, Frogboy == Draginol. Just a different account.
So a stand-alone "expansion" is going to cost maybe the same as a regular game and not an expansion maybe?
Well, if you have War of Magic, then Fallen Enchantress will cost as much as an expansion pack. If you don't, then it'll cost as much as a "regular game". No different than someone who owned GalCiv II: Dread Lords -> GalCiv II: Dark Avatar vs. someone guying GalCiv II: Gold Edition.
Hi there! Re Fallen Enchantress -- anyone who purchases War of Magic before Fallen Enchantress is released will get a discount. We haven't decided on pricing yet so I can't say how much of a discount yet. That's something for the publishing team to figure out in the coming weeks. Re The game itself, I think there was beyond an excessive level of melodrama with this game. At the end of the day, it is a video game. It came out and suffered some pretty serious bugs that had gotte
You get Fallen Enchantress for free. Are we seriously having a disagreement regarding semantics here? Seriously guys?
It's worth noting that we sell Sins of a Solar Empire on its own and we sell Sins of a Solar Empire: Trinity. Usually, the difference in SKU's (thanks for the correction, not sure what I was thinking) is pricing and feature sets. I can't say what the long-term differences between War of Magic and Fallen Enchantress will be. I can say that the trees are split and there will be a v1.2 and a v1.3 and so on to War of Magic. At the end of the day, the basic t

Lets make the first group of purchasers happy. I`m one of those people. Make me happy that I bought your game in the firstplace. I will then consider making another purchase from Statdock. If I`m wrong in my thinking please let me know. Just for the record, I do feel that Stardock is heading in the right direction. Having great co-worke
It is now time for people to place their bets on how many letters there will be in the 1.19 series. What did we get up to in 1.09? Anyone remember?
Would you say Fallen Enchantress is to Elemental like Entrenchment is to Sins of a Solar Empire? As in it added a lot of content but also fundamentally changed the game play as defense became more of a possibility than just having a single fleet of death mowing down everything in its path. Some people might prefer the more aggressive style of vanilla Sins, while others prefer the additional layer of strategy that advan
Do you have a saved game of this? I've seen people claim this before only to find out they set the world difficulty to ridiculous but left the AI opponent at normal.
Did you set your opponent's difficulty to novice? Some people set the world to novice thinking this affects the difficulty of the computer players.
Quoting Frogboy, reply 43Yea, I don't think there is much disagreement (or any for that matter) on where our developer resources should be going. If you ask an AI guy what they think needs the most work they're going to say AI. If you has a UI guy what they think needs the most work, they'll say UI. I think people are going to be surprised at how radically the expansion is going to change the game. <br
Ah shucks... I'm going to have to say something just to get it off my chest. EWoM is not a 7 nor will it be an 8 when 1.2 comes out. Gal Civ 2 in it's final state is an 8 out of 10 and you're saying that EWoM 1.2 is going to be as good as Gal Civ 2? No freakin way! As a point of reference, I'm suggesting Gal Civ 2 is an 8 based on games like Diablo 2, Civ IV, Starcraft, World of Warcraft, and others being better than Gal C
One suggestion I have is that you can have Impulse check your install versus the server. Just right click and choose the check installation (or something like that).
