IMO, the campaign is a lost cause. I hate campaigns. For FE, we had Jon Shafer (Civ V's designer) write it which resulted in something much better. In WOM, it was the opposite, the guy who drew the short straw did it (poor Boogieback). We just don't like campaigns generally. I still don't like them but understand the need better to have them be more compelling as a lot of gamers seem to play that first (I still haven't touched the Starcraft 2 campaign).
The answer is, yes. I already have one campaign handed in from Jon that was for WOM. But we're going to use it in FE instead as the campaign system is much nicer and less linear.

I'm listening... :)
Flanking, LOS, terrain, etc, are all interesting concepts. But there's also some meat and potatoes here that are easy to overlook because we take them for granted. How about the AI just freaking healing a hurt unit? Or slowing down a charging unit? If you want to talk about the design of tactical battles, that's Derek's thing. I can say, IMO, that I am not keen on tactical battles being the deciding factor in whether someone wins or loses a give
Wait wait wait. Brad. Seriously? You don't know how to implement an XML parser in C++? What?!
Obviously Elemental is filled with XML parsing already. But it makes as much sense for me to set up new parsing abilities as it does for me to code new file handling code. Do you want me writing AI code or writing file reading code?
You won't want it. Fallen Enchantress is going to suck and give you cancer. :)
Counter-spells sounds awesome... but you know what's even more awesome? AI using it!
Yep. That's the key.
In Fallen Enchantress it pretty much works like the screenshot except it's Earth, Air, Fire, Water and Life/Death.
All I'll say about it is that it'll be Baldur's Gate style (isometric) and not first person.

And like I said, I don't know anything about writing AI. I'm just a consumer. Like with a pie, I may not know what goes in a good pie, how to bake it, but I know when one taste like shit. This new forum has been created so that users can post their ideas and wishlists for Elemental: Fallen Enchantress.

Re Derek and such, the #1 lesson is not to treat project management as a side thing. War of Magic was in development for 3 years. I was on the project a total of 4 man-months during that time (about 650 engineering hours), nearly all of which was in the last couple months. Without a single "vision owner" and the corresponding enforcement, there's no good end. I no longer have the opportunity to spend all my time on one project and there is some point where the splint
Frankly, I'm tired of the complaining regarding WOM and am done with it. It is not worth my time to keep working on it when every update is met with "Yea, that's nice but why didn't you do A, B, and C?" WOM is what it is. I like it. I'm satisfied with where it's at. It's done.
Bug fixed that prevented AI from learning higher level spells. (Will it cast Spell Blast, Touch of Entrophy and Spell Immunity now?)
No, to my disappointment today, it is not casting those spells. The code in there that determines the "Best spell" is not determining those spells to be very good. It's something I can look into but I'm itching to get onto FE. IF there's a v1.5 in the future, that's something I would work on along with
I just finished a very long game today (allied victory) without any problems in tactical battles. I see an endless number of things that could be improved in the game (as is always the case) but I think v1.4 will be the build I have to let be the definitive version of WOM. The question in my mind is, would most people who buy WOM off the shelf and play v1.4 be happy and I think the answer is quite definitely yes. I am still not happy with how the AI plays in tactical bat
BTW, I'm very pleased with how this build has turned out. I'd say the AI improved more in this particular beta update than from 1.1 to 1.3 combined.
