I'm with BlackhatHedgehog on much of this. Each city costs more to build than the next. It's just that you start with so much $$. I popped it up to 1000 to start to give myself a little extra time to start doing a proper job on the balancing of the cities because, the economic buildup is ridiculously slow right now. There won't be a "tax" system per say. Instead, we need to reward players more for building up fewer, bigger cities.

Blaze - Awesome feedback! And yea, I've been pulling my hair out having seen some of my balance tweaks disappear. It's one of the pains of data driving so much is that it's easy to get it overwritten.

Things that let players conjure food are going away. What we've done instead is turn map generation over to a new computer AI personality that makes sure that the world has sufficient resources to work with.

We're getting a lot of crash bugs fixed up today thanks to you guys. Xal- Thanks for the feedback. Do you have any suggestions with regards to #1 (the magic system). I am in agreement.

Greetings! Keep those reports coming. We're reading them all. We are particularly paying attention to reports of crashing that include the dump files (the .zip that's in programdata\stardock\elementa..) https://forums.elementalgame.com/386178 We're getting a lot of awesome feedback. Thank you!

Yea, in the first few turns it's very cheap to recruit people. We may have overdone it.

The only thing that really frustrates us (and honestly is making my team less interested in reading the forums) are reading posts by people who don't have any idea what is involved in game development and thus have no concept of the kinds of things that take time or not. Sins of a Solar Empire originally didn't have space buildings. It was all in the tactical or logistical slots built abstractly on the planet. At this stage of its development we didn't even have infinite resourc

We'll bear these thoughts in mind for future betas. We ran this beta pretty much as we've run every beta in the past. However, I do agree that in hindsight, we would have benefited by enabling the graphics engine earlier so people could provide feedback based on what the game looks like in its mostly complete state. We will have an opportunity to address this as the first expansion pack for Elemental is due out in February 2011 and we can open up the beta a bit ea
I can say that Random House is helping produce an in-game campaign for those who have the book. Basically, it's an RPG-ish mini-campaign that follows events from the book. Wait, is it only going to be available to those who have the book (? not sure how that would get tracked), or just follows the events so those who don't have the book would be a bit confused?
It's an additional campaign that the book buyers get.<
Quoting Frogboy, reply 80 {snip} It's kind of academic anyway because no one in the beta will ever likely play the RTM version (unless you ordered the box version). The version over 90% of beta testers ordered is the digital version which has a "gold" date of August 17th. I did order the limited box harpo
And you don't plan to update ever? The RTM version of El

No worries chief, if you say it's done I'll be ready and willing to play . I'm challenging you to a game of multi-player
It won't be done. It'll never be done. Not sure we can really do much about a driver issue though. Thanks so much for the reply, Frogboy. It's not a driver issue, I believe; using the wrong drivers is just a work-around. It's related to post #8 above, and only effects mice that ha

We enjoy reading all suggestions. They don't frustrate us. Often time, a suggestion may be "impossible" to do but they get us thinking in different ways. A suggestion often exposes an underlying fault in the game. For instance, some of the recent suggestions were really proposed solutions for an underlying problem that the game wasn't sufficiently engaging. So while we couldn't implement that person's suggestion, we were able to look at doing a host of other things to ad
