1.09n[b].109: File download error

I saw there was an update Impulse and keep getting the error:

"File downloaded is smaller than expected"

I am on version 1.09n[b].108 and am trying to update to 1.09n[b].109

I also just got the Internet access message. This is the first time I have seen that. I am connected, as I am typing this on the same PC as Elemental. No FW or AV issues.

Is something up with Impulse?

Same issue here.

Maybe they're uploading it right now?

Same issue here.  I even tried uninstalling & reinstalling 1.09 and Beta.  Minor update still will not install.

Seconded. I clicked install (as impulse was loading) and it said 'must wait for implulse to load in order to begin installing.' Then it wouldnt come back.

Edit: It came back, but then I had the same problem as everyone else.

Let me phrase this another way, has anyone successfully downloaded and played the new version?

I haven't... same problem as everyone else (the file download smaller than expected problem though, not the internet access one)

Impulse tells me there's a new version even though I have 1.09N, but I get the same errors as you guys to, so it doesn't install.

The update is 1.89GB? Seems a bit big for a patch!

Downloading now but haven't had an error....yet!

Same here as OP.

Downloading the entire game again in an update didn't seem right so I cancelled it. Must be a glitch in the system.

if there was a new update, they'd have told us about it with a changelog.

I am having the same problem.

I foolishly uninstalled because i thought it was an issue on my end.  Now i can't play elemental at all ;/

Good to know there's a new beta out there.  I'll hold off until a few of you here are able to successfully download the new patch.

1.09GB does sound a little excessive, though.  Shouldn't this patch be smaller?  It's just a few fixes, from what I can see, but they have been working on it for a few days...

Also, for the poster above that can't play anymore (Delmoroth).  When you reinstall, you should be able to disable the 'show all available patches' beta patch option in impulse, which will then only show the most recent non-beta version (1.09E).  That way, you can get some playing in while you wait for the new beta patch.

You need to turn the "pre-release" option off in Impulse, download 1.09e, turn on the "pre-release" option, restart Impulse and you should be able to download 1.09n.  You can't download the beta until you have the previous 1.09 version installed already.

Best regards,
Steven.

This is about the "Wednesday 11/24 MVP build - includes AI changes" (copied directly from impulse) - it seems to be some kind of small patch on top of the beta, I'd guess for AI changes due to the description .   |-) I already have 1.09n beta installed, and the update reads as being 6.53 megabytes.  But, I keep getting the 'file smaller than expected' error when I try to download it.

I'm getting the update available but it says "1.89 GB", so I think there must be a problem somewhere.  The minor update can't really be almost as big as the full game...

Best regards,
Steven.

I was just able to successfully update.

It looked like I was able to complete download after restarting Impulse a couple of times.  However it still says that I have 1.09n[b].108 and that a minor update (.109) is available.  Now I get message that file size is smaller than expected again.

My available update for download now says 1.97GB up from 1.89GB. Too big!

My current version is 1.09n beta

I think I'll wait until 1.09o is released!

@kapeman - What version does yours say when you fire up the game and is it just AI changes?

I fixed it on my copy by changing the Elemental version in the registry to 1.0

Of course, it involves me having moved Elemental to a different directory and told Impulse to detect it.  It always resets the version to 0.0.0 in the registry when I do that, screws with updating Demigod until I change the version number on that too

I am also having problems, but the error message is 'Download verification checks failed - Press resume to try again.'.

I get this message repeatedly.

I keep getting the "file smaller than expected error" no matter what I do.

Um so any ideas what this update does... havn't seen a post about it from the devs :s

I think it's an eroneous update, possibley those of us in the beta are being offered to reinstall the non-beta game because it doesn't recongise the beta version as the current version.

What ever the update was it's vanished now. I assume they had an issue with staging it or didn't intend to release it.
