No offence intended, but you guys in the Americas should be glad you even have a choice.  We in the UK (and, I suspect, most of the rest of the world) had no choice but to pay for the game to be shipped from Stardock if we wanted a boxed copy.  If I could have wandered into a shop and just bought a LE myself, I'd have done that.

Most Canadians had very little choice either. Most big box stores here in Toronto didn't even carry the game and those that did, didn't get very many copies.  I doubt stores in smaller locales bothered to get any. Good thing, after all the relatively bad reviews, they'd be sitting on the shelf for a very long time!
I personally have no problem waiting to receive the boxed version of the game. ( I received it yesterday) I just have a problem with being GOUGED for the delivery fees. We had to pay double what it cost Stardock to ship it. I think that's what has most of us miffed. If we are going to pay that much, we should have got it by courier and not snail mail.

The boxes are shipped by a third party fulfillment center, and unfortunately they don't do it for free. The shipping charge doesn't just pay for USPS's share.

Problems like these are why I gave up on buying physical boxes long ago. Whether it be from an actual Canadian retailer or shipping direct, every game seems to have nothing but delays, delays, delays. Direct download is fast, convenient and hassle free. Until the Canadian retailers realize that their business model is completely outdated and actually arrange to have the product on the shelves for release day, they aren't getting any of my money. I don't think they really care though, all their money is in the console games market, the PC games are just an after-thought to them.

Still not here. Maybe tomorrow or the next day..... or next week..

Maybe the game will be patched to a point where it isn't a BETA when I receive mine :) Maybe not though :(

Your customers should be informed of that at time of purchase. (And not in some hidden fine print)  This is not the first piece of software I've had delivered.  It is the first to cost so much to have delivered though! Almost triple of any other piece of software i've ever had delivered!

What TorontoStar said. I think you might be underestimating how big Canada is. :)

A few stores in Toronto having it doesn't mean a lot in the rest of the country. None of the big chains seem to carry it, and those are the only stores with games I have access to. Toronto is a 17 hour drive away. ;)

Fair enough!

With regard to cwg009, I have to say that digital download will never, in its current state, supplant physical media for me.  With things like bandwidth limitations, traffic shaping/throttling, etc. having an effect I don't see downloading a game as either fast or convenient, and I'm still old-fashioned enough to prefer a nice shiny box, even if they are generally less attractive these days than they used to be.  My biggest bugbear with digital distribution, however, is price.  Here in the UK when a new game is released I usually have a choice of buying a digital-only copy for say £25-£30, or a physical copy for £18.  So I can pay less and get more for my money.  That's what I refer to as a no-brainer. :)

Well, that's understandable if the price is really cheaper for a box in the UK. In my experience in Canada, the prices for a box or for digital distribution are usually almost identical, so saving money is not a real factor. Nor is bandwith a problem for me personally, so digitial download is literally often a week or two faster than waiting for the retail stores to have things in stock. As I said, if the stores could actually have a box in my hands faster than I can download the game at home, I would seriously consider that option, but it almost never happens in Canada.

For those that got their LE box can you tell us when it was shipped from the states so we can estimate how long it will take to arrive?

My LE copy arrived today. It was shipped Sep. 3/10 so it took 9 Business Days to arrive in Toronto, Ont.

Yea, mine showed up on the 17th (I missed the delivery guy so picked it up today).

The Good;

Nice looking package

Cloth map looks cool

Pewter Dragon looks Great (Added to my D&D Collection)

That is a terrible price to pay. $84 for a broken game.

You only paid $50 for the game.

$20 is for the pewter dragon and the cloth map. $14 is for having it shipped to you from another country instead of going to a local retail store or getting the digital edition. Hope it was worth it.

Sales told me they shipped it on Aug 30th, but still nothing here (Kelowna BC).  Monday ends the 1-3 week waiting period for international orders, but since it looks like copies are rolling in for other Canadians I guess I'll give it another week before I complain again.

What really worries me is Snarl saying he had to pay duty on top of it.  Did everybody else have to pay duty?  So much for free trade... bah

With $14 duty on top of US and credit card exchange fees, this game is going to cost me $112.  This is the first time I've ever ordered a Limited Edition, all because I thought the dragon looked cool.  I think after this experience I'm going to go back to digital downloads only.  If I want a box I'll get it at a store.

Yes I got a duty charge of $11 bucks and after opening the package I was sent the wrong edition. I ordered the LE but got the regular one. I will have to contact SD for help on this next week.

I Just got my Second LE Package this morning, I was not charged duty for the First Package but was Charged for the second Package. The Charges were 9.35 for HSt and 5.00 for shipping.
