The issue with diffrent languages in a strategy game is that sometimes you need to communicate with your team. Beyond a simple "know your role" situation that MMO's fall into. I've found that when playing Supreme Commander that most people who don't know english usually can't co-ordinate an attack with those who don't know whatever language it is that the other player speaks. Admitedly, Forged Alliance has many players from all around the world and it usually isn't a huge problem. But still,

I played with some pretty young players in Ultima Online and it never really bothered me. Then again, I was in a pk (player killer) guild so we were generally viewed as the greifers in the game. In truth greifing in games that play like UO (where the only safe zones are in towns) need people to provide risk for adventuring without bandits and highwaymen the world feels extremely empty. However, I've also played WoW in a raiding guild and found that within the group I ra

X-com was an inspiration for Elemental? Sweet, so we'll be paid to clear the skies over various countries with an elite team of individuals from all around the world. And when we fail to clear the skies we'll send our teams all over the world to wipe out alien hotspots and bases? Then eventually goto Cydonia and wreck the aliens? YES! Failing that, I can't wait to hear how you'll scale a game that can be run on an old computer versus a top end gaming rig. Looking forwar

It would be nice if minor countries that happened to be closely clusterred together ended up forming a Holy Roman Empire style of mutual protection treaties, trade agreements, and perhaps recognised a central authority. It would fast prevent steam rolling...

Actually the size of video cards are so large I'm thinking of buying a full blown server tower for my next case so I can easily work in my case. Clearly "Sharpened Pointy Sticks XVII" Is a better upgrade because you get a better bonus earlier. I know you need to research "Blunt Objects" first but trust me pointed sticks are the way to go. That said I prefer infinite slightly unpredictable research. I'd li

I've got 4870's in my rig and they "work" let me explain. ATI drivers for me have been unreliabile and buggy. The graphics adaptors may perform well in bechmarks but the rendering artifacts I get and the strange rays that show up in games is horribly distracting. When I was running Nvidia boards I never had these issues. It's also not just me there's lots of complaints about ATI drivers screwing up renders in Direct X based games. As such, I'll probably never own anothe

Technology shouldnt progress beyond an early medevial period in a society where magic is avilable. Technology progresses in order to get things that take a long time doing to take less time. It also progresses to facilitate war. Its reasonable then to say that magic facilitates all the needs of war while offering the ability to make daily life easier to those who can afford it. An example would be: Why develop medical care when a mage can heal someone with a spell?
