I prefer the terms "reboot" (remake of old classic) & "reformat" (throw the baby out with the bathwater and start from scratch) [e digicons]:sun:[/e]

What gets me is.... Don't they realize that when they pick up a title to do a reboot....we want to see a REBOOT! The reason fans of a series 10+ years old are still fans is because of the gameplay!

Wow, I am amazed at the emotional response this thread has evoked. I haven't replied until now, but I just want to say I happen to enjoy Biowares games. I am not a game developer, a graphic artist, a programmer, or anyone involved in the making of games. I just wanted to throw that out there since some people feel the need to post a resume before giving an opinion. I am just someone who enjoys playing games in my free time. That said, I personally enjoy all t

I had some friends of mine pick it up after we all quit STO. I decided to hold off as I am testing another MMO that's coming out next year. They have since quit playing it however for the reasons mentioned by DeCypher00. Apparently the lack of content coupled with the "buying blocks of time" business model turned them off. It's a shame because it looked like it could actually have been a good game.

I think it depends on the type of game, although overall I am all about gameplay and less so about graphics. I think cut scenes or videos for the most part are a waste of time and development money that could be better spent elsewhere, but thats me.

I was watching a show on TV and an old song I remember from my youth was playing. It was "Somebody to Love" by Jefferson Airplane. Of course my curiosity got the best of me, and after doing a wiki search it turns out Grace Slick is 70 years old! WOW....ok, back to your regular gaming discussion...

Interesting Choices - I like the idea of founding your first city, but then after that you should be able to free your sovereign up for other duties. So I agree with your assessment here. NPS's - I agree with some of the above mercenaries that NPC's are very much in my mind mercenaries. I would think however, that depending on the race of the NPC the cost to hire should be adjusted based on your empires race. If the r

I would suspect they will go for a similar business model to the game Battleforge that EA has put out. It's basically on online CCG where you can level up your cards, but you need multiples of that particular card to advance it.

My friend Nick, You so eloquently put into words exactly what I was trying to convey. That's my main problem with the combat system.

Your opinions may vary and that's ok! we're allowed to disagree. If you don't like something that I do, please feel free to let your voice be heard, but respect the fact that I do enjoy it please.) First, I love the graphical look of the game itself. The way the map ch

[quote who="Tridus" reply="82" id="2656937"] Quoting celicakydd, reply 75 I don't think the stack of doom itself is the best either, but if I were to design the game for me personally based on what it is I enjoy, I would still have units stacked and combat would be tactical. I prefer setting up armies of units, then playing out the battles in a separate tactical battle. To me this is more realistic, as the scope of map size in a game like civilization would mean that my

The military model in Kohan is built on the concept of companies. You can raise a limited number of companies based on the number and size of the settlements under your control. The composition of each company can vary widely, and this is the basis for much of the strategy involved in combat. A company has one frontline unit type and up to two support unit types, as well as a captain. Once in combat, a company functions as a unit, although the individual units in that company fi

Seeing the cut scenes and such make me feel better about having Elemental take a very different direction as we could never have competed with that level of production value. Those cut scenes of theirs are amazing and the sheer polish of the game is just breathtaking. Far beyond what we are capable of doing on Elemental. Luckil

Frankly, I am a little disappointed they are removing the religion aspect from the game. I actually liked the "Beyond the Sword" addition of the Apostolic Palace. I always enjoyed the race to spread my founding religion around the world.
