Thanks to the Wincustomize team, for the lsz support. For those wondering, the lsz file format is used with the new OTS2 theme standard used in the newest versions of Litestep. The OTS2 format will still handle zip files as well. Check the major LS sites for more info.

ONe quick thing you could check in the step.rc The path to the image folder used to be called PixMapPath That term is no longer recongnized by the Litestep.exe Change PixMapPath to LsImageFolder and see if that helps.

It should run fine on Win98. I used to run it on that versino all the time. Installing themes is quite a bit easier now. The "OTS" theme standard has helped considerably with consistant theme structure, etc. There still can be minor tweaking depending on how well made the theme is, but way easier than before.

Litestep has the most features, flexibility, and ability to customize your desktop to suit you. It can be tricky to wade into, but there is an installer available, and it works out of the box for 95%+ users. The current Litestep theme standard (OTS) has removed much (but not all) of the grief of installing new themes. For the ultimate satifaction of complete control of your desktop, I reccomend Litestep.

I've had the same effect before when: The popup images aren't there, or are labelled incorrectly, or the path to popup images is borked. Sometimes when I've mixed bmps and pngs in the same popup or theme, Litestep can become quite unhappy.

Likely only the Stardock folks could tell you whether Windowblinds writes enviromental variables when it installs. But the hope would be that it does, and then you could call those variables rather than full paths. In Litesetep yhr syntax for enviromental variables is like this: $explorer$ ,as an example would launch windows explorer without having to put in the full path. In a purely windows interface and enviroment though I'm not sure how exactly the syntax would be. The

Pretty sure that's what he did, or he wouldn't likely have simplicity running. The Shell-On shell configurator has worked well for me, as well. As for switching themes the "patched LSTS" theme switcher works real well for me. I suppose a real simple fix, would be to download the Litestep installer (shellfront.org has the link), install Litestep, even over top of a current build or install. That installer includes an "un-installer" which should make it pretty easy to get back to explorer.

hehe, rainmeter isn't actually a "rain" meter; it is quite similiar to sysmetrix in terms of available functions. You can modify a rainmeter within Litestep for your own use. You will have to look at the rainmeter setting included with the theme. Rainmeter has its own config file (it's usually kept in the "config" directory,but not always). In that file there are settingslike position on the desktop, and which meters are included with this rainmeter. Hopefully the theme author included
