If you installed Litestep with the "Litestep Installer", there should be a desktop icon that sais "set shell as explorer", Click that first. Then, look under the start menu (or right click on the desktop for the popup). Under programs \ Litestep, there should be an uninstall ion. That will uninstall Litestep and return your computer to its original shell settings. Your computer should need to be rebooted for the original shell settings (Explorer as your shell) to take effect.<b

I like the earlier suggestion of tying the "skin stats" back to my Skins pages here at wincustomize. It would be neat to see acumalated hours of usage on a given skin. Actually it would be neat to see: number of times loaded on a desktop number of hours loaded on desktop average number of hours on desktop per instance of being loaded on the desktop (ya, I'm a stats junkie too <b

In terms of collecting the data on which skins are used, many people switch skins several times per day. So would you want to know which skins were used and how many times each or would it be more usefull to know how many hours an individual skin was used. For me hours is the most relevant, because some skins stay on my desktop a very short period of time.

Hey, thank for the link Moshi. Hopefully Rainy finishes up the next version of Rainmeter soon. On a related Litestep note, a new module called wazup was just released. From websites it grabs info that can be displayed in a label. Nasty looking config, but who knows? I''m gonna play with it a bit more.

I think Renato hit the nail on the head. Complexity of skinnning has increased dramatically. I realize that is due (in part) to a clamour for more features. Be careful what you ask for I guess The increased complexity isn't just with windowblinds either. Winamp and Litestep are two more examples. I think what Moshi's getting at (and if not, than I am) is: every recent thread regarding Litestep, seems to evolve into lighthearted babble about the usefullness of Litstep itself rather than focusing on the problems\questions raised. I know it's not meant in a spirit of mean-ness, but it gets a little tired after a while.

I think the challenge in being different is, most everthing that can be done has been done. When I think specifically of Litestep which customized your entire desktop, even there there seems to be a lack of "uniqueness". I don't have any quick answers unfortunatly.

well, with older themes start by unzipping them. Then place the entire (unzipped) theme folder into your Themes Directory. The themes directory is usually in: Litestep\profiles\your-name\themes\. With your right-click popup go to "Litestep>change themes>refresh list". Click on that. After that, the theme you just installed should show up in your themes list. To run that theme, select it from the themes list and cross your fingers that it loads. (older themes somet

Well, I just downloaded NonDisjunction from the Litestep section at this site. When I tried to install it, I got the error messages too. The reason for the error message is: the theme is not OTS2 compliant. There are perhaps ways to get it to run, Moshi obviously got it up n running, but generally non-OTS2 themes will not run "out of the box" with the newest Litestep distros. You are best to stick with OTS2 compliant themes for now until you get the knack of modifying themes.

Nope, you're up to date. Glad to her PixOffice fired up correctly for you. The key is to look for OTS2 compatible themes. Older themes can work but require tweaking of the step.rc file.
