I know what you're going through as my earlier experience of Desktop X had me going through a range of frustrations as it somehow altered system scripts/codes and rendered programs like Norton Virus scan and Microsoft Outlook and Word unusable. Now I still don't know why the program was doing that but like you, I had used WinBlinds shareware for a time and I liked the look of it over boring windows...so I thought I'd give OD a go as I liked

This has been an unusual 'bug'. Mike H. suggested uninstalling SDC and reinstalling it...which I did and all is well again. Now when I open it I have the OD, Games, WinCustomize, Misc etc icons, listed down the left side. It had mysteriously disappeared after a recent IP update...I'm guessing it had something to do with that. Thanks for your responses.

Hi. Have submitted this previously...had one tech reply who suggested doing a icon repair...but the problem is still occuring. When I open SC I'm automatically taken to the news site...which has always been the case, but I no longer see the icons for eg, Object Desktop, Icon Packager etc. So I can't install/uninstall any of the products. Like if I wanted to install right-click I don't have access to it. The program still updates accordingly and today, when it update IP and OD, I was able to gain

Okay, thanks for that. I think I do have all updates for WB5 but I'll keep checking. It only became an issue when WB5 was installed...but it could be the beta nividia. It only occurs on start-up and then - as said - there are no longer any occurences. I was wanting to see if others were experiencing this specific 'flicker'. The 'web' tab was not checked. Hi. The flicker begins after the Welcome screen. I have the latest Win5 beta...'c' I think. There was the initial release and 2 further updates...there are no further updates as of 12/10/05. My Nividia driver is a 81.84 beta from Guru3D. XP Pro service pack 2. thanks

flickering on start-up in Object Desktop Stardock Forums

Hi. Have recently updated to WB5 and have all the recent updates. Have noticed since first running an intense initial flickering when Window's is first opening...after log-on. I have a Nividia 6800GE with a recent video driver. In the past, with earlier drivers, I observed an initial black screen (once or twice) before the image settled. Of late - and until WB5, this had not been occuring. Anyone experiencing this or similar. The screen only flickers briefly and then resumes a normal screen

Installed Win5. Looks great. Thought everything was working well. Tried to play a movie using my Cyberlink PowerDVD Deluxe 6.o. Sound works fine...blank screen.
