How does one create a Start Button graphic leveraging windows highlight color? (such as is used in the Windows dynamic theme personalisation of assignable highlight colour? ms-settings:colors ) What are the channels/colors/image depths/formats needed to effect this? Both the built in 'Start 11' icon and the 'Default' do this, unfortunately they do seem to be 'built in' as they don't have any artwork in the 'StartButtons' folder. Ideally

Admittedly this is perhaps of more value to wider/multi-screens ( a ) ( b )
[Feature Request] windows key can open start menu as floating Background when pressing the start button, opening the windows start menu near the start button/task bar is ergonomic/convenient since the mouse pointer is defacto close by. However, this is not necessarily the case when pressing the windows button. Request Have an option to <span style="text-
Any device that implements as per remote, needs to record such. Any device that removes as per remote, needs to record such. This way any deletions can eventually be expunged from settings. Can elect to force ignore/expunge certain devices. Can request a device's re-accounting on some next occurrence. Timing/triggering of the above is a separate matter.
I've realized that if this were implemented, it may be well to implement it along the lines of a 'rules' based system such as is used to implement fences groupy. A universal rules framework would be lovely to see. Start11/Stardock could even provide some defaults for popular applications. Here are some common groups. Here are some common applications that by default will go into those groups. Here are some common auto arrangements for those groups. Here are
Feature Suggestion: conditional synchronisation of Start Menu groups between devices. This is a windows product so lets assume OneDrive is available. Via one drive export Start11 menu pin configurations to a sync config file with a standard or customisable expected %onedrive% relative path. NB this is an automated, ongoing, 'syncing' feature . Not one time settings backup > import.</s
Thanks. Well that's really irritating. I found it in a second this time. Under 'more', which is the only menu I ever use, the first level menu is useless for all but copy and paste. I'd understand if they moved only extension menu items, but they didn't. Maybe I was unlucky and the extension wasn't loaded for some reason, but I doubt that. The windows 11 UI is such a total garbage mess though and its not getting any better. Ms never finish anything before moving onto the next f
While Start11 has great features for creating pins to the taskbar, I don't think it has much in the way of features to create Pins to the Start11 Menu? Suggest: Explorer extension context menu item for 'Pin to Start11. Using this: Creates a windows shortcut to the item in a the folder '%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu' Pins that shortcut to Start11, which the user can later reorganise. Or maybe opens a dialog allowing
Yeah I was just about to say I've since attempted on another machine, very similar config, and can't reproduce there either. Although, I note the icon is different on the machine that works... So yeah a thorough uninstall might do it. Not sure when I'll get around to that, I'll post results if/when I do.
Pinned 'Windows menu shortcut' ( configured under 'control' ) does not
Pinned 'Windows menu shortcut' ( configured under 'control' ) does not work Reproduce Windows 11 23H2 Start11 v 2.53 Check that 'Windows menu shortcut' is not already pinned, remove if it is. Under Start 11 Configuration: control > enable 'Pin Windows menu shortcut on Start 11 menu ' The Windows shortcut is pinned successfully, <img src="https://cdn.stardock.us/forums/73/32/7332494/f42881a8-1776-4e9a-9b7d-96beabb332e4.png" alt="" /
Comment in passing... It seems kind of odd that beta doesn't have an 'easy' update feature. I.e. two update streams, production release, vs beta. The stream could be baked into the version downloaded. I would not suggest auto update, but certainly auto notify, and easy download. Do not allow beta to be subscribed from within release though. I would have thought that of all streams, any feedback (which is the purpose of beta) would be especial
The bit about getting basj a surface tablet was partly tongue in cheek, and part my own baggage about being an under equipped support engineer myself. How about, getting basj a raise instead?Or another raise? (I am in no way affiliated with basj) I do think (from personal experience in support) that a distinction needs to be made between those tickets where a lot of detail has been put in into the description. (Do I have enough to test with? Yes -> Is the cost for me t
Although, you're community Basj, I also get the impression you are support role effectively. It's a personal gripe, I'm tired of support departments not getting getting adequate 'support' in my personal experience, and I'm projecting. I just see it everywhere. They should get you a surface tablet basj! [e digicons][/e] Your very productive as far as I can see. I'm pretty sure you'd tick it off in in 3 minutes, either back to me confirmed, or on to support as improv
Hi Basj, Thank you for responding. No, neither 'automatic' nor 'force' helps. This is a request, not an expectation, but I would ask that if considerable effort is put into documenting a potential issue, and that if the return test ought to be quick to do on Stardock's side that they please do the testing there. Otherwise, please explain that "no one anywhere in Stardock dev, or support, has a tablet to test on. Could yo
Following tested on Start 11 2.52.3 (appeared to apply to 2.52.1), Win 11 23H2 When: using a touch device in tablet mode (Surface Pro in my case) and the Windows 11 option 'Optimise taskbar for touch interactions when this device is used as a tabled' and the device is in tablet mode (keyboard not atached) Then you get a number of problematic behaviours that are 'buggy' in experience. 'Top' alignment of taskbar which sho
Actually, I know this is a bit of an impertinent suggestions as its such a major pricing model and product change... But there are a lot of missed opportunities for integration between object desktop family features. (and my guess is duplication of dev work to a degree) E.g. Fences colourisation and Groupy colourisation. I think You should: scrap all the separate products. Offer Object desktop as a permanent license product that comes with a
You want people to compare options until the last minute. Green button takes you to 'clear' purchasing options. "Get permanent license or subscription now!" "Get a license now!" (permanent license has less resistance, mention first) Do it on another screen. Recommend logging in. Logging in will advertise any savings because of other products on accoun
(yet again, I think of a problem, and Stardock have already solved it. Loving Groupy) Feature suggestion: * when a selected tab has a Groupy color, there should be an option to set the window titlebar background to that color. * when a selected tab has a Groupy color, there should be an option to 'transparency-hue' the taskbar icon with a saturation of that color. * There should be an option, for when there are both {1 or more groupy-colored tabs} and {non-grou
Yeah this is great! And 80% of exactly what I'm after, which is a full 30% more that I would reasonably expect to find already exists given I just came up with the need. (I'd just like to see colorised taskbar icon, and colorised title bar background, and a place I can audit all my 'file explorer color saves', and delete or edit [as you can with custom rules])
Oh wow that's awesome as its Stardock too. (I thought for a moment it was going to be some other third party via cnet downloads). I'll definitely take a look!
Yes. I wouldn't expect it to be a future feature of fences. There are few sources I would trust as much as Stardock to 'mod' my OS with. Also... what's in 'xxx'? Is that where the Stardock games 'fan art' is kept? [e digicons][/e]
Thank you for this basj it is greatly appreciated, and I will bear it in mind for 'ways of working' However in this case a key ingredient is having folders open in different windows side by side. In this particular case I am often initially selecting folders to open from a git repo visualisation (although not for what you would consider conventional dev purposes) I do love fences so far though. Praise the gods for Stardock. Just please keep licensing persisten
To elaborate further... at the moment, if often soon gets to a situation where it is easier for me to just close every file explorer open, and reopen the ones I need, than to have to root through every window looking for the path I am after. Alternatively, I just end up with four windows of the same folder open.
It may be that the following would be a feature for another product? It may be that the following is already provided in another product? ...but I 'love' the color customisation in fences. It makes it so much easier to find and mentally organise things at a glance. I would 'love' to have this feature in File explorer. Imagine being able to tag a folder with a 'Stardock color' From then on whenever that folder, or a subfolder, is open in file explorer, tha
